PROs: No download required as it uses the Unity Player platform. It's free. Fast learning curve. Fast-paced Keyboard movement, mouse aim (The reason I don't play most MMOs is because I can't strafe and I love to strafe. You gotta strafe!). It's like Diablo but with zombies.. can't go wrong with that. Melee weapons don't require repairing so strike as hard as you can If you get disconnected you continue the game in single player mode until you get your mojo back. Instant teleportation to a teammate or random user (if you know his username) anytime. Adrenaline packed Bossfights. I believe there are jobs and quests to do, I'm not sure yet. Pretty cool community surrounding it. Should enough people decide to join in a team we could distribute 5k x #players starting cash that comes for inviting each new player to the game among ourselves. With a solid clan keeping in touch through teamspeak and hunting together this could turn out to be a good way to turn off your brain after a long annoying day at the office. Maybe even quality streaming material.
CONs: Map Areas look the same after a short while. + Show Spoiler +
Slightly disappointing amount of monster variation. + Show Spoiler +

You need a good connection to play synchronous to other players. Dying a lot might make you extremely frustrated. Not much strategy involved. Not too many weapons and stuff yet and only about 4 categories of bonus properties, you can upgrade them though (also name and dye them for the fashion victims trollolo) Moderate loading times between Areas. Sounds are not well normalized (gunshots are too loud, realistic but really loud) You can't benefit from leveling up until you visit the safe haven. There are bugs and easy ways to trick a monster into thinking he can bypass a fence and get you while you can just chill and unload your ammo on him.
If you want to give it a go in a team just post a comment with a suggestion as to what we should call ourselves. We'll start a string of registrations by invite. I'll send the link through a PM and you send your link to the next dude and so on we'll get 5000$ starting cash each. See you on the TL teamspeak server.
This looks pretty cool. You called it an MMORPG too, so does that mean it's a persistent world?
Also, what would you rate the difficulty as? Is it just a fun point and click zombie killer, or is it actually challenging and you have to stay away from zombies?
I haven't gotten very far to the backstabbing, killing you with one swoop across the whole map with a giant claw kind of monsters yet (just once and I was really pissed about it). In the beginning you can kill zombies ez with melee weapons. In about 2 hours or so yo'll be lvl 11 like me and can venture into the yellow, green and red areas where shit might hit the fan pronto.
Well there's no real individual story I think, no NPCs for that matter. The world is not really persistent like say Second Life as you can't make changes to it. Sorry if that sounds disappointing but I don't want to exaggerate.
I played it a few months ago and after awhile found it really boring, always the same monsters, everything looks the same and it's not like you're crushed with the amount of possible gear...
I played this game a little bit over the weekend. I accidentally walked into the arena and was wondering where all the braindawgs were. Then some dude walked up and blasted me to death, I literally almost ragequit.
After 2 minutes I find the actual city, which from the looks of it was pretty darn big.
In combat, I didn't feel like there was any actual skill involved. The pistol I started with was really random and didn't seem to hit half the time even though I put most of my points in accuracy. The melee was ok but you end up dancing around zombies in 1v1 combat or just endlessly back pedaling from basically everything.
You also have to wait 10 seconds to open any menu item, I guess because it gives you invulnerability. The inventory and some other menus actually open a popup which I found kind of silly. The class system seemed kind of ridiculous too. Some start with really good abilities with only an xp rate penalty, and others (a bunch of others) like the priest start with only some extra money (I think), and nothing else. As far as I could tell there wasn't an actual game run store for ammo and stuff (unless that was on the premium side), so you had to go on the auction house to buy ammo and "services". I had no clue if I was getting ripped off.
Maybe I just had a bad experience with the game because I just sort of jumped in and didn't really look at the forums to see what was going on, but the game feels really grindy and boring after a while, especially after looking at the city map and realizing this was pretty much all there was.
Does anyone on TL play this? I picked it up a few days ago and its pretty damn fun for me, i dont think the people in this thread were very fair on it, might not be their type of game i guess. Just the post above "A bad version of LFD" Its nothing like LFD at all.
Its a top down (birds eye view) 3d shooter alot like old arcade / retro games, resembling the PS3 game "Dead Nation" that was given out free (after their collosal security fuckup.)
And if your going to read the posts above "Alot of backpedalling" Anyone who knows these games will realise backpedalling is involved, but its all positioning and fluid movement, not just running backwards. Its also shit hard to avoid 30+ zombies when all you have is a f**king iron pipe.
Capped92 / Cappess (Had to reroll, they dont delete accounts, went for female me.) if anyones interested in hooking up :D
Also, make sure you look up what your doing with stats etc before you begin, otherwise you end up fucked from the beginning. For instance the best class stats wise is Athlete, if your willing to take a stat hit, engineer / doctors are great money-makers on the market, other classes offer some neglible bonuses but arent really worth it, at least that whats i got the gist from vets of the game.
Bumping for their easter event (sorry i didnt know this existed untill today)
Easter themed zombies to hunt for additional loot and +100% exp bonus for the weekend. You could get a nice jumpstart to the better areas of the game if you started this weekend :D
