What is Operation 7?
Operation 7 is a MMOFPS developed by Mgame (http://www.mgame.com/) and released by Netgame (http://www.netgame.com/) in some time around 2009 I think. Its home page can be found here: http://op7.netgame.com/ . It's a MMOFPS where you play as a mercenary and battle others for supremacy. Yeah I know that some of you might have started thinking "oh this is just another MMOFPS" but trust me, I was initially skeptical about it too, but then the game actually has some very interesting features that attracted me.

Features & My impressions about this game
- Gameplay:
Operation 7 has 5 game modes: Deathmatch (what it says), Demolition (de_ equivalent in CS), Survival (basically a Deathmatch but counts in rounds and has no respawn), Head Hunting (each team has a player who becomes a sort of VIP then you have to kill the VIP of the other team in order to score a round) and a CTF mode. They're basically what you will expect in a MMOFPS, however there's some pretty cool features such as choosing to battle at night, which allows people who have bought NVG (night-vision goggles) like me to curbstomp others.

- Combat System:
This game features aiming down the sight which is a good thing, since I hate holding a gun in my hand and not being able to do anything besides firing and reloading. Weapons in this game can also alternate between firing modes which is definitely a up for me since recoil for some of the guns can be really nasty, though not necessary realistic. IMO automatic/burst mode are only suitable for camping and close quarter battles, semi-auto mode is better since it allows me to conserve ammo & fire more accurately.
This game is also one of the few to feature noobtubes, however I haven't played to the part where they become prevalent (yet). In the meantime, I will enjoy the game by bashing my buttstock at my opponent's face to humiliate him.
- Weapon Modification System (WMS):
A gun-junkie's wet dream. Not only does this game feature an armory that makes the Soviet Union look puny, in this game you even get to build your own weapon and test before making your decision to buy it. And by "your own weapon", I mean you can customize everything, from the receiver to the opticals, handguard, buttstock, even barrel which will in turn, affect some of the weapon's stats. You can also get paint jobs as well. The only drawback is that some of the weapons have level limits which can be quite painstaking to achieve. Other than that, this feature is the most impressive of all and it's a major reason of making me enjoy this game.

- Other stuff related to gameplay:
This game also features a gear customizing where you can choose what your character can wear, though I think this can also backfire when you sometimes can't distinguish between teammate and enemy. PROTIP: All your teammates have their names show up on the HUD. If a guy does not have his name show up, then don't hesitate to put a round through his ass since it's 101% sure he's an enemy. Another sucky thing is that there is no deathcam, which can make you hate snipers/campers very much.
- Graphics:
Operation 7's hardware requirements are actually below-average but still, the graphics is good enough for a free MMOFPS. It has some pretty nice effects like blurring outer parts of the screen when you sprint or aim but can be turned off to improve performance. The only thing that gets on my nerves is blood and gore which are exaggerated and sometimes can make you confused not knowing if you actually killed the guy. Fortunately, they can be turned off as well.
- Sound:
Actually I felt the developer could have done better with the sound. I have no opinion on the weapon sounds (different weapons have different soundsets) but the announcer guy is more annoying than a sniper on the desert map (you'll soon find out

How to play
- Log on to http://op7.netgame.com/ , register an account. Then log in with the account you have just created.
- Download the latest installation file and install the game.
- Now comes the harder part: Since you run this game from the internet browser, you'll have to install some plugins for it (I'll have to assume it's Firefox since I also use it). I'm not sure about IE or Chrome, Opera though. Just follow the instructions given, they may look a bit confusing at the start but will be worth your time.
- You don't have to use any launcher program, because you'll log in from your browser, then press the "GAME START" button to start playing.
Other things & Final words
I'm sure there's at least one person in here who has tried this game. I have to admit this as well, this is not a 100% kick ass game, but rather a sort of hidden gem in the sea of MMOFPS. Some of you might even feel this game as a Cod ripoff, honestly I don't care, it feels pretty fun for me and it's got some special features that Cod didn't have. Still, if anyone of you want to play you can feel free to add me by this nickname (I'm a newbie): Colonel_Sanders
