Do you know if there are any major differences to the original in the remake?

It also goes overboard with the sidequests/hidden items, so if you're a completionist and enjoy scouring a world for the most inane items in the most random places, you'll also enjoy this. If you don't, but still want to get most of the "good items", you will consult a guide. A lot. Also, if you are a completionist, I recommend consulting a spoiler free guide beforehand, otherwise you will rage at items that can be missed in the most arbitrary ways. All optional, though, so if you just want to beat the game then go for it.
The storyline is...interesting. It was made during a time period when extremely complex plotlines and heavy philosophy was the craze, so if you're not into stories that are overtly trying to be deep (debatable on whether it succeeds), stay away.
The biggest issues are that it was one of the earliest breed of PSX Gen games, meaning most of the graphics are either faux-3D or extreme polygon 3D. Also, you can tell the Devs went giddy with the thought of gigabytes of data space, because you'll also be introduced to the most random game content...especially minigames (1-2 are somewhat fun).

I'd always recommend first the old ones like Chrono Trigger or FFVI, in case someones hasn't played them for some reason.
SNES, GBA and PSone all have sick JRPGs.

Ugh, bought NS2 at 75% off yesterday but I don't think my computer can handle it... I get 88 FPS or so in the options menu, but starting a practice game takes several minutes and once I tried to drop a medkit, the game immediately crashed.

Waiting for a better FF7 deal :X

I think 8 dollars for FF7 is worth it personally, just in terms of how long the game is and that the game is still sorta fun today although not as impressive as the leap to 7 being the first ps1 ff game.
I liked 7 but I thought 6 and 10 were the best in the series but 7 is good even though I agree is overrated as being the best game ever. If you can overlook some of the deficiencies such as cloud being a boring, stoic JRPG'S protagonist and a pretty dumb plot twist later on than FF7 is still a game worth playing.

there wont be one this time around because they added ff7 like last week, im actually surprised that theres even a discount this early

Indeed FF7 was "released" like a week ago, not gonna happen soon. Plus it's Flash sale already.
Maybe on winter? I won't get it anyway because I don't think it's worth it, having one copy for PSone already.
|
Yeah, I won't buy it until it's at 50-75% off. I still have my PSOne copy that I can throw in and play whenever I want.
Amazing game though; if you haven't played it, do it!

Yeh that game seriously takes like 10 minutes to load the map on my computer

Yeah, forgot to mention the loading times and FPS. It's not the best coded game, so it's a little rough. I don't have the loading issue, though. SSD helps tremendously. The FPS... well, I can only recommend turning settings down, regulating what you're running while playing etc. It's a really good game, but it does have a couple of issues
