Try seeing if you can increase the FOV through a config edit. Nowadays, PC FP-games tend to be designed with a console in mind, so their FOV is much lower as a result, which ends up screwing over people on the PC who naturally sit closer to their monitors than one would to their television set.

Are you not averse to older games? Fallout 1 and 2 are where you should start.
Have you played and enjoyed an Obsidian game before-- e.g. KotOR 2 (not 1), NWN 2 (again, not 1)? If yes, Fallout NV. If you played but didn't enjoy them (or preferred their Bioware predecessors), you'd probably enjoy FO3 more.
If none of the above, then it's sort of a toss-up. I think NV is the better game, but FO3 is somewhat more appealing to a newcomer due to NV inheriting a lot of the quirks that are inherent to Obsidian's game development.
I swear, Steam is mocking me with duplicate Trading Cards. Summer Sale voting, get 4 cards, 3 are the same. Portal 2, from the 4 drops I get two pairs. First two drops from Bastion and Dust are doubles.
Not like I really care about the cards, plus I'm up a dollar I wouldn't have...but still.
EDIT: Holy crap, I can sell TF2 crates?! Sweet! Time to make another...20 cents. Or something.
Is Remember Me any good? It looks very pretty but has kinda a lackluster rating.
Eador also looks kinda cool tho I have a tendency to buy this type of game, play it once and let it sit. Infact, I have a tendency to do this with almost all games <_<
Only game I know I want to buy for sure is Bioshock Infinite if it goes on sale again (missed it once), love the visuals and setting too much not to.
God dammit Steam. I've never really cared for any of the Deus Ex games but I've heard Deus Ex 3 is pretty amazing minus the ending (which apparently blows?) But hell, I was able to make it past the terrible piece of shit ending that is Mass Effect 3 so this can't be that much worse, right?
