Same thing happened to me last christmas with 8 different games or so. I can live with it, but I feel quite cheated when I dont understand how the discounts work.
This has been mentioned several times already in this very thread, but:
Is it a daily deal, community choice, flash sale, or the very last day of the sale? No? Then wait.

Just taking a step back I'm pretty sure we can all agree that that is actually really stupid and annoying. Basically there are no sales other than daily, flash, community and last day. So why don't they just get rid of all the stupid 33%ers?
Hopefully after a few more of these, when word gets around to 95% of people DO NOT spend money on anything that is not one of those categories, Steam will realise the strategy has stopped working.

Almost all games get a base level discount, usually around 50%. The Daily Deals, Community Choice and Flash sales are much higher discounts, around 75%. Usually, you should never but something unless it's a) one of those or b) the last day of the sale.
@above That won't happen, unfortunately. People easily get tricked into buying at the lower discounts. Although, for some really cheap titles, it doesn't really matter.

This should be common logic. This was clear for me since the first ever steam sale.

Not everyone is as smart as you, great one. Not even I. ' On topic: I finished reading Shogun book a few weeks back and I bought Total War: Shogun 2 as a result... And what do you know? 75% on summer sale. gg

If it's the last day, then it definitely won't go from a normal discount to a Daily Deal or Flashsale, so it's the only time you'll be able to buy it while it still has the discount. Basically, it's about waiting the longest time in the hope that it gets even cheaper than it already is, just in case you can save even more money.
Nothing special about the last day in particular, except that I'm sure it brings lots of nerd-tears.

Nothing, but at least you know its not getting any cheaper. But you know that already. If its on a Flashdeal or Daily-Deal its the max. Discount it can get. And last day has always a Best-Of of the bst Deals, so if you missed something you can get it then.

Anyone bought and played Eador: Master of the Broken Sword?
How's it like? Fun/worth?
Also, Stardrive seems to be kind of fun. Only 61/100 metacritic. Anyone got some info?

So then I needn't wait for Resident Evil 6 to get any cheaper as it is on the daily deal with 50% off?

Man i really hope Natural Selection 2 goes on sale, been waiting for it, but its scary to have it there as a community choice. It seems like it could be a pretty awesome game, even though i heard theres a big learning curve. But what do i care, i play Dota and SC, so learning curve means nothing haha.

Just bought ME 1 & 2 collection. Now I think I've bought everything that I wanted, but who knows, maybe Gabe has something special planned.

Gotta love valve--I bought trine 2 for brother and myself which lead me to checking my inventory. Apparently, I some how got a third copy (for free) so now can give to my other friend.
Valve has some how gotten more awesome

Probably because there is a three-pack for the price of two. Though it is indeed nice of them to give you the three pack even if you just buy two single copies.

It's not exactly the same tho. The 2.5€ is the normal game version, with all the DLC and extras it's about 5ish.

May I suggest Endless Space instead, it seems to be the better game. Although it has been discounted already down to £9.
