Then you would need to register it on Origin to play it

Oh... That is retarded.

The biggest problem I found with Origin is it's horrible server list. Really bugs me that the game can't be launched through the game itself. I dont see why they don't just put a server list inside the game instead of running it through Origin's website.

That's actually BF3's new stat tracking website, Battlelog, which is developed by Dice and works outside of Origin. Origin and Battlelog are separate, they even have their own independent friends lists which seems like a huge wasted opportunity
All Origin does is "directly supports players" (PR speak for auto patcher) and probably logs in to the EA account so you don't have to log in twice to play

you actually can. That was just an alpha thing, they stated that when the game is actually launched (idk bout beta) you can look at servers in game just like you could in previous battlefield games.

It was said that at on this conference mentioned above we get new MP trailer and Co-op demonstration. Also, people will be able to try BF3 at GamesCom in 64 player map, which means that this trailer should be Conquest one, with jets, tanks etc. Great, isnt it?

This sucks so much. BFBC2, ME1,ME2, DA:O and awakening, DA2, ALL on my steam account. I refuse to use this mediocre steam clone to play digitally released games. I will not support EA with purchases on their origin network. They've already discarded a few of my purchases on the EA store after a few years. This is garbage. Screw EA.I'll be too busy with Diablo 3 and skyrim to even care about this game. I'll just pirate it and play the single player and even announce it to the police before I will ever download Origin.
