obviously i meant a headshot.
bolt actions have way faster bullet speed/power and its not to hard to get a headshot if you are used to fps's(such as counterstrike)
The Open Beta is a true Beta
The Battlefield 3 Open Beta is based on software that is more than one month old. We need to test the new back-end dedicated server structure we’ve built. Not only have we built a new game engine, but an entirely new back-end system so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of dedicated servers on all platforms.
Just like normal procedure when releasing a game, the Open Beta has had long lead times due to testing, certification, and setting up. This means that the code you are now playing is actually quite early and not representative of the final game.
We had to do this in order to have as many people testing as possible, in order to ensure a top quality experience when the game is released. However, we’re confident in the Battlefield formula and confident that our fans will support us in order to make Battlefield 3 better.
Dedicated servers require dedicated testing
The biggest reason for running the Open Beta is to stress test our servers and back-end. Already, we are seeing 6 times the number of simultaneous players in the Battlefield 3 Open Beta compared to the Beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2! The fact that Battlefield 3 is clearly our biggest game launch ever by a magnitude of 6 makes it doubly important to test everything.
We are constantly updating the News section on Battlelog with information on what we are fixing from Open Beta to final. We appreciate your time and your feedback. The data and feedback from the Open Beta will not only directly affect the final game of Battlefield 3, but its future development and support.
We’re heading out on the road this week to let journalists experience all aspects of Battlefield 3. Stay tuned for their previews, and stay tuned for the final game on October 25th. The final game will look, play and sound better than the Open Beta. You have helped making sure of that.

True, but the reload coupled with "un-zooming" makes it longer to get off 2 shots. And two shots are needed to kill one person or two standing right next to each other - which happens a lot in certain spots. Sometimes I don't even consider aiming for head, I just take 2 shots and let them fly to the target killing them while I look for another target or move somewhere else. One thing I like about bolt action is that it's way cooler I think semi auto should kill instantly with headshot and do around 40-45dmg so 3 shots are need for a kill.

Something to try out for fellow TL'ers: When prone crouching (e.g. behind low cover) towards your objective, repeatedly:
Hold shift until getup/sprint animation starts, then immediately release shift and spam z. Will speed up your crouching by quite a bit while you appear to remain low and covered :-)

Dont join a server with friendly fire enabled. I just had a guy teamkilling everyone in sight and reviving afterwards. He made a lot of points with it but you can imagine it was not a lot of fun for the team. Especially because you cant vote-kick him...

No negative points for TK anymore? Must be an oversight if that's the case.

So is there any quick voice command in the game? I noticed under key binding there is spot/communication. I know how we can tag the enemy, but I don't see any communication related things at all.
Also do players automatically yell out things like "i'm pinned down" ?

Been having a lot more fun with the support class lately, the key for me to make it fun is to play it quite active, not so much in the run and gun sense, but to stay slightly behind front line, relocate and create firepower/defence where needed (can see on minimap) to prevent caps along an exposed flank, or to suppress defenders from coordinating their efforts by holding down certain areas with an LMG. Meanwhile having the sprint perk does allow me to go for caps quite often, which is a lot of fun too ^^. Also, as a defender I just love sticking one MCOM site full of C4 while guarding the other, and just push the button whenever other com is being capped :-)
That said, I still suck at this game ^_^

Yes, they do that automatically when they are suppressed. In the final PC-version of the game there will be a Commo Rose however.

Releasing Caspian to the public would probably have cut those cancels by 60%.

I'm still iffy about getting origin and therefore haven't tried out the beta. If I recall correctly, the actually servers aren't exclusive to origin on the PC right? So I can get a physical copy (or some other download format) and play online without origin?

No, you have to have origin, and if you have origin, then EA is guaranteed to spy on your computer i.e. the other programs you use like steam and other games you have installed and purhaps other sensitive information that could be illegal...
So no, if you want to play battle field, you must suck EA's dick. and if you have too much dignity to suck EA's dick, then you can forget about battle field 3!

I am not 100% on this, but I'm fairly sure EA wouldn't let you have an easy bypass to their new service that they want everyone to join.

Quote for emphasis. You'll never see me on Metro ever again.

Haha I do this all the time, throwing C4 over a place then waiting till a few guys run in there and blowing them up just gives such tremendous satisfaction, and it looks so brutal. They really aced C4 explosions.

While I disagree with the canceling of preorders, they shot their own foot not knowing their customers.
Battlefield was always about the addition to vehicles, that was what stood out to me when I first started Battlefield, how it was more about war than tag with guns. The addition of vehicles and how it remained, somehow, balanced was what jerked me to Battlefield.

Doesn't seem like a good idea to state the number (and growing number) of dissatisfied people...
That being said, I'm enjoying the game quite a bit.

That being said, I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. Disagree, open communication is always good. They also don't name how many people preordered

You guys are so gullible. Why would they actually tweet the number of canceled pre-orders?
