Okay guys, after playing for a while, I have a few questions. Forgive me, I've never played any other BF games before ><...
1) Does Left+Shift really reduce sway? Silly question, I know, but it doesn't seem to make a difference for me. 2) How do I 'mark' enemies with orange indicators? 3) One kit has the heal ability. As Recon, what's my ability, and how do I use it? 4) Am I supposed to stick together with my squad? What does a squad leader do? Right now, everyone seems to be spreading out, and it seems to be working just fine...yet I feel like there is something deeper I may be missing. 5) I assume each pistol you unlock is better than the last? The stats don't exactly say... 6) What areas are one shot kills, 2 shot kills, etc for sniper rifles. Right now, I have no exact idea of how many bullets I need to shoot, if that makes sense. I've also found no reason to use the bolt-action so far.

1) if scoped in 2)Q 3)You can unlock abilities. Look them up 4)Nope, tight now just have fun (squad leader should just stay alive) 5)For the most part yes 6)It different from weapon to weapon. Iv sniped someone at the head and they still lived (happened at least 5 times last night) For the most part snipers are a 2 shot kill
My question is this, Does the Pull Back attachment for bolt action sniper rifles not work or am I using them wrong?

2. Check the keybindings. I'm pretty sure its "Q" but i might be wrong.
3. Recon has some kind of radio or something, just click it and place it on the ground. No idea how it works, i guess it's somekind of decetion thingy.
4. Doesn't really matter on Metro or Rush if you stick with the squad or not. But i guess it's better so if you die, you usually get revived. In conquest mode it's highly recommended.
5. I'm not sure about pistols, but in BF2 and BFBC2 it didn't go that way in any weapons. Some guns sucked more than the previous unlocked gun. So basically you might not get a better/powerful gun on your next unlock.
6. Right now, it seems that you need to shoot twice at least to kill as a sniper, doesn't matter if it is a headshot or not. (this for first unlocks though) In BF2, one shot to the head was enough, and i'm pretty sure BFBC2 had the same. There will be hardcore server which will kill instantly. (DICE has been having gun tweaking/balancing problems since BFBC2 and BF3 Alpha, so it might be changed in the future)
Feel free to ask more questions if you have any.

It's best to stick with a squad on defense than on offense. It's really big in the beginning, so it's fine. In the middle of Metro, squads help kill enemies that often kill you in narrow corridors.

Sigh, one round and i (and many others) get kicked from the Caspian Border servers.. Guess DICE put a limit there.
|
When u run into a full squad with great teamwork shutting you down over and over then you will understand why squad play is so important. For now though its mostly COD noobs in beta who have no idea how to work together as a team or even that there are objectives and it is not deathmatch. I can't tell you how many squad mates I have had who just camp a position with the sniper rifle and get four kills all game even though the rest of the team is pushing on the MCOMs. Hopefully as more and more people come to understand the difference betweem COD and BF we will start to see more cooperation and squad play.

How did you get in in the first place?

Passwords has been leaked/cracked or something since.. this morning i guess. Now Dice is changing the password frequently and crashing servers/kicking people so more people can test the maps out.

Just got the limited edition for the PC. Hopefully I won't regret buying it for the PC over the console. Would hate for it to be ruined by hackers. Will the TL server have many admins, as I feel this may be necessary, and does anyone need money for a server?
|
Well, i guess there goes the last chance to test out Caspian Border..
|
I don't understand why they don't just make Caspian part of the beta
|
I remember a day, long gone, when a younger me would completely own in games like Battlefield. Now the best I've done is 7/14 in a round, and most often it's much worse than that.
Doesn't help that I hate city/close quarters maps. Feels like I'm playing a call of duty game.

Fucking people ruined it for everyone. There was someone here being playful about it too :B

Unless they did this all on purpose to see if the selected few would start sharing the password to the masses.
I see no idea to put the servers available to see for everyone anyway, not to mention the whole password situation.

I don't think there is a way to hide the servers.
When we were playtesting C&C 3 on the mac, we couldn't hide our "Games" from the servers list. (this was internal Q&A testing, not for retail purchasers)

Might be, might be. But still, it seemed playable anyway so i don't get why they didn't 'release' it to play in the first place.
Here's the first message by zh1nt0 if someone missed it.
+ Show Spoiler +"Ah, and there it was. The password for Caspian Border. So the deal with Caspian Border in the Open Beta is that it is only for internal testing at the moment.
Passwords are being given out to selected community members, sites and clans to help us evaluate the feedback we are getting as well as making sure that the map is continiously being tested.
The passwords will be changed on a frequent basis and I am personally making sure that as many community people as possible who are engaged in different community sites get the chance to try the map out and supply us with feedback. This in itself was a challenge. This is only meant to be for internal testing. When footage and passwords start being spread around, it´s difficult for me to justify the community´s cause about joining us in our internal testing.
So please, if you are participating in the testing, please don´t post any footage and please don´t spread the password.
If we can´t keep this in an organized fashion, I won´t be able to include the community into more cool stuff in the future"

May have already been answered already...
Is there an early beta release for consoles? If yes, has anyone played it and how is the gameplay?
I don't feel like shelling out ~$100 for a new graphics card (maybe more for a new power supply....I have no clue what my current machine/power supply can handle...would need help determining that)...so as of now, I'll be getting it for xbox (bigger community...more idiots as well....and little annoying kids who should speak with their mic).
(And yes...I know FPSs are much better on PC, played a bunch of cs back in the day)

to be truthful, I'm probably getting it on 360 instead of my PC, just cause I have more friends that will have it on 360. Sucks cause the lan I'm going to in Nov. I'm sure everyone will be playing this, but.. can't really buy both with all the other awesome games coming out this holiday season.

This is pretty much the same position I'm in. I have my best friend who's comp could barely run SC:BW well so I need to get this for the 360 so i can play with him.

Maybe there's a good reason buried between the lines, but he didn't convince me that excluding Caspian Border from normal beta-testers is a good idea. He's working really hard to give the password to as many "community people" as possible to be supplied with feedback?
Consider how many bugs have been discovered on Metro already and I don't understand (from this explanation) why his tone is so condescending towards people who just want to play a conquest map (and the ones who have seem to think it's vastly superior to Metro, anecdotally).
