Not sure if this is useful/new information at all but here it is anyway...
Just messaged Amazon (.co.uk) as the status of my pre-order hasn't changed at all and I've only had the default email you get after making the order. The money hasn't been deducted from my account yet either.
Basically, I was told that Amazon still haven't received their "shipment of this product" but the person ensured me it would still be delivered on 11/11 (Cutting it a bit fine if you ask me?). Having seen a lot of controversy with them in the past with people not receiving their pre-orders on release day, I have to admit I'm a little worried. Anyone else pre-ordered from Amazon in the UK?

I'm debating with myself whether I should get this. I've never played an Oblivion game, and I'm quite curious. I'm sure I will abso-freakin-lutely love the game, and it will be WELL worth the 50 or 60 dollars or whatever
BUT
I don't want it to get in the way of my SC2 as I've just started seeing some 1v1 improvement T.T

Not quite sure whether I want this or not either, only ES I've played previously is Oblivion and I dropped it after a few hours as it didn't impress me. Should probably try reinstalling it and see if my opinion of it has changed.
I was probably playing it wrong as I neither liked or really understood the leveling system and I felt really underpowered in (melee) combat. Also the story didn't catch my interest either. Ended up quitting in the first Oblivion tower or whatever.

People actually did the story in Oblivion?
I went across the river, killed some mudcrabs, fucked up the bandits, and spent 100 hours just traveling the world without doing a single quest.

If either of you have some free time on Friday, Day[9] said he'll be doing a marathon play through so you could combine SC2 and Skyrim to see if it's your kind of thing. For what it's worth, Oblivion whilst IMO fun certainly wasn't Morrowind (the one before it) but it sounds like they've fixed pretty much everything that was wrong so this may just be the greatest game since StarCraft. Or I may be exagerating, but it looks sooo good.

He did an Oblivion marathon five years ago when he was editor-in-chief at Gamespot. It should be really cool. I'll be glad to see it since I can't get the game yet. Also since no one will have the game yet...on thursday.

Thats pretty much what my friend was saying to me as well, he just played around with mods and explored the world and so on and still managed to put dozens of hours into it and loved it. Figured I might have been playing it wrong trying to follow a set path which didn't really deliver.

Thanks for pointing that out, I'l try to check it out. And Skyrim does look way more tempting than Oblivion to me. Doing some reading up on the game right now and things like level scaling being closer to FO3 which I didn't really have any complaints with than Oblivion sounds welcome to me.
Edit: Wow just watched the E3 gameplay preview, this game looks really beautiful and polished all the way to the little things.

40% GO GO GO BABY!! d/l @ 1.3 MB/s. Not bad for my net. I'll take it!
EDIT: While I'm waiting for it to finish up and what not. A question came to mind. In the "Building better combat" story they mentioned arrows weren't gonna be as abundant. You think we'll be able to make our own with one of the crafting skills? Or will I really need to conserve arrows and won't be able to be a sneaky pew pew archer?

You'll need less arrows cause they do more damage than pebbles this time around.

dont be too excited about the preload, its heavily enkrypted.

Always told myself in that scenario my character would play it out and either steal, buy more, or use a dagger until he could get more.
