Solid? The thing was a mess. There was a huge echo that was borderline unbearable and the guy stumbled through a pre-recorded opening and was constantly fumbling for words. I couldn't watch more than a few minutes without cringing myself inside out.

the echo stops after the 5min mark, it's the internet we have lower standards for our personalities.

Eh, plenty of personalities put on good shows on the internet, where have you been?
I might come off as overly harsh, but it was completely obvious this guy was 30 miles outside his comfort zone and wasn't quite sure what to do about it. Should have thought about that ahead of time.

So mad right now, I just drafted probably my best deck so far in RtR and I get 0-2 round 1 in about 10 min total by a dude going pack rat turn 2 in both games zzz.

I drafted one of the best selesnya decks ever, Pegasi and Centaurs out the wazoo, G1 is over T5 vs a Rakdos player who obviously had no idea what he was doing, and then G2 I don't draw a single forest in the 10 turns it takes him to kill me, and then G3 the exact same thing happens.

Side note: Miracles is the biggest mistake in magic. Whoever in the R&D that thought it would be a good idea needs to be punched in the face. Nothing like losing a match to a top decked bonfire for 9 from a guy at 2life and no creatures that's staring down a board of gravecrawler, hellrider, aristocrat, knight of infamy.

i see, but that wasn't even in the side deck list for this deck. does he just auto lose to that? i was under the impression it was standard pauper, but how do you have a chance against these decks without old cards?

He wasn't playing Standard Pauper, he was playing actual Pauper.

You will never beat a decent pauper deck with a standard pauper deck. Just spend the 2-3 tickets to actually get a good deck and practice with it. The guy you got the list from wasn't very good at the format.

Just out of curiosity, what competitive pauper decks are that cheap? Key cards for most pauper decks can run as high as 7-9 tickets each.
|
I want to say Elves, Infect and monoblack.
|
Naya Aggro can also be relatively cheap, maybe in the 8-15 ticket range for the whole depending upon what cards you buy.
|
If you like control - cloudpost decks have been strong for a while now and got even better with the addition of some new cards (electrickery, ghostly flicker). it's been a while since I build mine, but afair the only relatively expensive cards were 6-8 hydro-/pyroblasts and serrated arrows. I might be wrong though.
|
Cloudpost IIRC is pretty cheap aside from the SB of Serrated Arrows and stuff, but as far as the maindeck is concerned I believe it was pretty cheap.
|
Mono G Stompy. I think it's one of the best decks in the format, and it costs about 9-10 Tix in total.
|
You get like only 3 tix when you open an account. So the more expensive commons need to be like .05 to .10 tix.
|
I bought mono white for 2. Every deck except infect and momo blue are under 10. Goblins, Storm, and mono black are all under 10 if not under 5.
Here's a hint: don't buy from "Pauperbots", they inflate staple prices that you can get for much cheaper from conventional bots at the possible expense of them not having everything you need. Shop around people.
Crypt rats went up, so have all the staples since I last checked. Guess people are starting to gouge pauper players.
