Sure it's at sorcery speed, but still good value. Edit: That card makes Slip and Abrupt End seem so much better. You'd have to be pretty ballsy to make that play, lol. Value is one thing but playing this guy for that purpose seems very greedy.
Eh, not really. It's still a 2/1 flyer for U.

The stipulation is always there. It might just become the go to play for "new" Delver or whatever. But it's just a fundamentally dangerous spell, right? Besides, while it has that great potential value with Snapcaster, Agent of Bolas, it also has that weird non-synergy in decks looking for instants and sorceries. Anyways, just guessing.

It could be a miser one of.
Anyways, genesis wave for spells in izzet colors. Probably terrible, but someone is going to try to burn you out.

loxodon smiter...srsly??!?! -.-

For tonight we have RTR's Burning Vengeance-like card and a Genesis Wave for instants and sorceries:
Uncommon enchantment 4R: Whenever you cast a multicolored spell, ~ deals 2 damage to target creature or player. + Show Spoiler + Mythic sorcery XUR: Exile the top X cards of your library. For each instant and sorcery with mana cost less than X among them, you may cast that spell without paying its mana cost. Put all cards exiled this way that weren't cast into your graveyard. + Show Spoiler +
But wait, there's also a mythic creature 4WWW 5/6 Flying When it enters the battlefield exile up to three other target creatures from the battlefield and/or creatures from graveyards. When it leaves the battlefield return those cards to their owners hands. + Show Spoiler +
I forsee losing in limited when my opponent casts Experiments with a Guttersnipe on the table. Thank goodness it's a mythic.
|
Blechhh, don't usually complain about spoilers, but tonight was pretty lame. I can respect the ambition on the Angel but they may as well have made her 4WW to really push it.
|
Is there enough fast mana in Modern to make Experiments a thing? Perhaps as a Storm enabler?
Are the spells cast from exile put into your graveyard when they resolve or do they stay exiled?
I with they would've gone with a CMC of 3 for Pyroconvergence instead of 5. That would've brought it into line with Burning Vengeance (which was still quite hard to pull off in triple Innistrad). Add a cost of one for each use to make it like Lightning Rift if the free version was too strong.
|
Well what they are obviously trying to do is pyroconvergence + nivmagus elemental as you can do 2 burn damage and eat the spell to put counters on it.

I wonder how many mythics RTR will have currently we have spoiled what 9?
Sets have normally 10 or 15 although the number has varied between 10-16, i doubt sense they strated revealing guild leaders as non planeswalkers that every guild will be getting one, but we might have 2 or so more to fill in colors non affiliated ones, personally i'm surprised they revealed a planeswalker who's attached to a guild in RTR i would have though they would have saved 10 all for "Sinker" or the 3rd and final part of the block.
|
I think it's 15 mythics.
5 Guild Leaders (of which we are missing Rakdos) 5 Guild colored spells (missing the U/W one) 5 monocolored spells (missing the R and the B ones)
I think Innistrad had 16 mythics because of dual-faced cards.

New Azorious O-Ring is the tits.
|
Oh my god, I love the Azorius O-Ring meets Maelstrom Pulse.
+ Show Spoiler [Card] +
Also, a new Storm hosing counterspell. Not sure if it's better than Mindbreak Trap. I guess since you can play it normally rather than for Overload if you're already in UR? + Show Spoiler [Card] +
And a Mythic Vampire that makes all your creatures gain +1/+1 counters whenever they deal combat damage to a player. Sheesh.

Hey is Extended dead? Finding no traces of it over @ MTGSalvation.

I think the new format that replaced it is Modern. It's certainly the closest I've seen since paying attention to it again.

Yeah, WotC did a bit of a definition shake-up 2 or 3 years ago; T2 is now Standard, Extended is now Modern, Legacy and Vintage are still Legacy and Vintage. They also did some rules changes around M10, the main one being removing damage from the stack.
Also, was able to build a legacy Affinity deck for 12 MTGO tickets. I find it amusing that I can play affinity for that cheap and still be semi-competative (the only thing the deck's missing is Mox Opal and Stoneforge Mystic).

Does non online discussion belong here? I just started buying cards again, and a core box game me a taste of all the new sets and i was wondering which gave me so many spirit types cards for white/black? (since i am creating a deck based around it)

(since i am creating a deck based around it) Innistrad Block has a lot of Standard Legal Spirit stuff. Lingering Souls, Sorin Lord of Innistrad, Intangible Virtue, Drogskol Captain, etc. So look for stuff in Dark Ascension maybe.

Play Esper spirits if you are going to play spirits at all. Basically Blue/Black/White since it's power level is still there and also one of the few decks that looks decent post rotation.

Stealer of Secrets 2U Creature - Human Rogue Common 2/2 Scroll Thief*
Sphinx's Revelation XWUU Instant Mythic You gain X life and Draw X Cards
EDIT: I always get so hyped for those X draw spells but they never really live up to it. Still...pretty sweeeeet.

Rare creature 3UR: 2/3 U, tap: draw two cards; R, tap, discard a card: ~ deals damage to target creature equal to discarded cards mana cost. + Show Spoiler +
It doesn't seem like there is a mythic on par with Geist, Huntmaster or Bonfire so far, with Rakdos, the mono R and GW mythics left to be spoiled (assuming 15 mythics broken down into 5 guild leaders, 5 guild colored and 5 mono colored). It will be a refreshing change not to have a mythic be one of the defining cards in standard for a while. Unless one of the planeswalkers blows up (between the two I think Vraska in a Golgari or Jund deck).
