New mechanics: Undying - If this creature dies without a +1/+1 counter on it, return it to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter (reverse persist) Fateful Hour - If you have less than 5 life, X. http://wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/darkascension/cig# Notable cards: Gather the Townsfolk : 1W put 2 1/1 white human tokens into play, put 5 in if you are under 5 life. ^Going in my modern tokens deck Mondronen Shaman // Tovolar's Magehunter - 3R 3/2, flip when no spells are cast // 5/5 When an opponent casts a spell, do 2 damage to them, flip if 2 or more spells were cast. ^ Always does at least 4 damage when it's flipped, if not more. Seems awesome in limited, but slow for constructed at 4 mana. Zombie Apocalypse - 3BBB Return all zombies from the graveyard to the battlefield tapped, then destroy all humans. Trolololol Increasing Confusion - xU, mill x, if it was cast from a graveyard, mill twice the amount. Flashback: xU Incoming Mill Deck.

Also, reverse persist is hilarious. The double green haste guy? Like a mini-vengevine. I could see alot of neat decks abusing that (like hex parastie for generally being a 1B Super regenerate for it). Also that hunger of howlpack seems like titanic growth on crack. Also, I'm definitely going to experiment with faithless looting and increased confusion to see how fast I can dig ![]()

Esper control placed in the top 8 in Atlanta...and the build had 25 lands. I was shocked when I looked at the list. That and the lack of snapcasters and the addition of a Grace Titan and Elspeth. Just made me wow at the list.

He took the other approach, play 4 Days set up for said Days. Esper shouldn't be running Graves anyways. As for 25 lands, he got greedy and it paid off. I wouldn't put too much into SCGs, a lot of their top 8 players barring a few are...loose with their decision maknig.

I'm shocked because his mana base looks horrible compared to the nightmare that is the 27-28 land Esper decks, the amount of black card he's running on 7 black sources. I just don't understand how it ran effectively to even top 8 an SCG. Plus the lack of any mainboard timelys just makes me cringe. sure he has talisman but i still like having the two timelys main,

Cutting lands for spells and hoping to get there happens all the time in Legacy, not exactly impossible for it to work out in Standard for the span of one tournament.

Altar of the Lost - 3 - Comes into play tapped, T to add 2 mana of any colors to your mana pool, use this only to cast flashback cards from the graveyard. Essentially mana fixing for off-color flashback spells, mediocre in limited and stone unplayable in constructed. Increasing Devotion - 3WW - put 5 1/1 white human creatures on the battlefield, if it was flashbacked, put 10 instead. Flashback - 7WW Better than Conqueror's Pledge? Probably. Good enough for a modern tokens deck? Nope. Good enough for G/W tokens? Probably. Geist-Honored Monk into this next turn for major shens.

But Increasing Devotion? That's a really powerful card. People always talk about constructed in previews, but nobody really knows anything. So, strictly from a Limited perspective, Increasing Devotion - strong and aggressive. A smidgen slow. EDIT: I mean, it's Moan of the Unhallowed, right? Basically, a slightly better version of Moan of the Unhallowed.

Are there any decks in the current metagame with playstyles like those? There is a new mythic card that called Past in Flames that gives all cards in graveyard flashback, and it cost 4R. You can flash it back for 3R. There is also a modern format from about the mirrodin block onwards. Here is a storm deck. + Show Spoiler + 4 Desperate Ritual 2 Empty the Warrens 4 Gitaxian Probe 4 Grapeshot 4 Manamorphose 4 Past in Flames 4 Peer Through Depths 4 Pyretic Ritual 4 Seething Song 4 Serum Visions 4 Sleight of Hand Spells [42] 4 Island 4 Misty Rainforest 1 Mountain 4 Scalding Tarn 2 Steam Vents 3 Sulfur Falls You can nail them for 20 fairly quickly, it isn't expensive aside from the lands, and the format isn't broken. Have fun ![]()
