you are subscribed to the guildwars2.com newsletter so they sent you the mail.
some ppl just looked at massively or other mmo news site and signed in from there.

dxdiag doesnt ask anything. It just makes some data about your PC, like components and drivers, and sends it to the arenanet guys. The signup was just the usual stuff how you got to know about the game etc nothing special

What are you talking about? You run the program, it automatically sends the info and you're done. There's no questions.
Ah, you mean the questions afterwards. Nothing important, just your email, whether or not you want the newsletter, how you heard of the game. That's more or less it if I remember correctly. Nothing like usual betas about your previous experience etc.

They just asked Age, How you learned about GW2 Beta, and what aspect of the game you will focus on(PVP or PVE or Both)

I'm on a secured network, as i said before, that will not allow any information to be sent from the network. It's on a proxy server.
