Same to, oh I don't know, the last half a dozen pages of this thread. You MMO people and your "my game is better than yours" discussions do realize that in the end the reason the MMO scene is such a sad entitled whiny bunch over in the west is.. you right?

His complaints combat wise aren't actually valid at all (I know, I know, someone is going to go "it's just my opinion", but that's really a cop out in face of the facts). The only faster/more twitchy game I've played (and I've played a few) is Blade & Soul, which is an entirely different kind of game. Basically what half the people in here do is want to convince others of their being "right" about "their" game and that's why almost every discussion of an MMO fails. It's always my game versus your game. Discuss it on it's own merits, or don't, because there's nothing else to be gained otherwise beside ego stroking. And that's what's making the MMO crowd so insufferable these days, not WoW or whatever.

I hope this is not the case.

Even on the caster class I played, it was a good 1-1.2~ seconds to cast each attack, it didnt feel fast paced and twitch-based, it felt restrictive and slow. I would probably love it if i could move while attacking, but that would result in a lot of spell redesigning and probably require a fair amount of redesign to place emphasis on movement restricting abilities so the game isnt just 2 heros spinning around each other at the speed of clusterfuck spamming abilities. I think you're deluded if you pass my complaints off as "You MMO people" - I feel this game is seriously crippled by the restrictiveness of its combat; its not really a selling point in my eyes at all (especially considering how long monsters take to kill later on in the game, its an excersise in absolute boredom and grind). Restrictive combat system and laughable quests and an apparent lack of endgame - the game is languishing in korea at the moment and will inevitably fail as hard as age of conan in the west, too.

Especially with melee classes (i played slayer and sorcerer? in beta) like slayer, even auto attacks feel like they take a LONG ass time to complete when im used to other mmos. some melee abilities you literally hit and wait 2 seconds before the animation/hit completes. How is that not clumsy and sluggish? Even on the caster class I played, it was a good 1-1.2~ seconds to cast each attack, it didnt feel fast paced and twitch-based, it felt restrictive and slow. I understand it's a game and all, but please show me where you swing a hugeass broadsword in under a second. MMO's are not twitch based pvp, and should not be. It's action/reaction based but in this they give you a good window to react properly which makes for more complex pvp vs. 123124321312312312312 as fast as possible hoping you outdps the other guy.

Well yeah, I guess I just don't find very slow reaction based combat fun or engaging - there will always be a certain crowd this could appeal to, and I could easily overlook my gripes with the combat if the rest of the game was well written and actually had some good content - but it doesn't.

I don't see what's special about Tera. It's not unique in any way, shape or form.

If you've only played WoW-esque MMOs and have never experienced an open PvP system like EVE or L2, well... I guess you don't really know what to look for. That's what makes TERA, more than anything else. If you cried like a little bitch about 60 rogues ganking in STV, then you won't like it. If you actually manned up and fought back against them, you probably will.

Anyone who has ever played a MMO should know that.
