Cyber Nations. This is a browser based game that you can play while you drink your coffee or eat your toast in the morning. It is not heavily time consuming, but that does not retract the fun factor from this game. I know how many heads will be turned when I mention "Nation Simulation Game", but this game is SO much different. You do not just answer stupid questions that lets a computer generated AI determine what happens to your nation like in a game such as NationStates. You literally control every facet of your countries life, but it's not so irritatingly complicated that it takes weeks to pick up. It takes maybe half an hour to understand everything, but you don't need to understand everything right away anyways.

Some pictures showing the expanse of your control:

So you get the gist from those pictures I hope. You control tax rates, infrastructure, land mass, etc. etc. You can also trade stuff with other nations, so that you both get your resources (so if I have fish and wheat, and you got uranium and coal, we can trade and we both get fish, wheat, uranium, and coal) and some items combine to get more original resources. Such as steel and whatnot.
Now wars. War is what makes Cyber Nations stand out from other browser based nation simulation games You buy soldiers, tanks, missiles, ships (you specifically choose what kind of ships you want, such as destroyers, aircraft carriers, submarines, etc. etc.) airplanes (again, specifically choose what kind you get as you advance up technology levels). And in every battle, you choose what number of soldiers, tanks, etc etc you want to use to attack their army and nation and choose what kind of strategy you want to use (cautious, planned, aggressive, etc.)
You can also use strategic missile strikes on their nation to try and disable their infrastructure and technology to cripple their military (low technology = less chance of winning ground battles and it costs significant amounts of money to replace) and even send spies into their nation to try and set up uprisings (if there is anarchy they can't defend) or disable nukes. The strategies are endless.
Nonetheless, this game is free, it takes 20 seconds to 3 minutes to play every day (or every other day if you so please) and you can disable wars cast against you if you don't want to be too hardcore in the beginning. Give it a shot!
