I think Torres will flop aswell. His first season at Liverpool was amazing, but I think that injury really is going to hold him back. Could probably benefit more from a move to Spain or Italy imo.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a clause in Torres' contract that he can't play against Liverpool on the weekend, don't think Dalgleish would let that fly

Also, I can see the potential in Carrol. He's more of an old fashioned centre forward, strong, hard working, good in the air etc, he's like the second coming of Alan Shearer imo

Torres won't flop but he'll find it difficult to live up to the hype, he'll take at least the rest of the season to be that that player again who arrived at liverpool under benitez. 50 million for a player in such indifferent form for the majority of the year... Ludicrous.

Good thing is being an arsenal supporter this all inflates Fabregas and Nasri's price tags so much clubs are gonna be put off from making bids.

Carroll is NOT worth 35 million, hes had a great start but for that amount of money you're looking at talent that can win you trophies immediately (David Villa, Carlos Tevez etc) and hes not there yet. I'd rate him 18 million tops, and thats mostly based on his age.

As a Liverpool fan I'm really not a fan of the Carroll deal. They've payed way too much for a guy who is just going to be another James Beattie/Robbie Keane in all honesty. That's not to say Carroll is bad, but he's not top draw and not worth what Liverpool payed.

It's a massive knee-jerk reaction to losing Torres and I can't help but feel the club will end up selling him back to Newcastle for a fraction of what he cost.

Losing Torres makes me sad as he's such a good player and was starting to find a bit of form again. I can't blame the guy for leaving; Liverpool are a side in a decline/rebuild phase and he obviously doesn't want to be part of such a plan. I can understand why he left; he wants win and maximise his potential while at his prime.

I think he'll go well at Chelsea if he can keep fit, but only time will tell. A lot of people are calling it Shevchenko #2, but I think he's far better than that. If he can keep fit, he'll flourish

Torres for 58.5m euros is pretty ridic. Andy Carroll for 35 is just ludicrous. Also, Blues grabbed David Luiz for ~25 and Luis Suarez to Reds. This was one of the crazier windows, that's for sure o_o

just read they got David Luiz too, with all those signings would not be too out of place to said they can challenge any team in the world.

Milan also are investing hard. Milan, Chelsea and Barca imo are the 3 main candidates to win CL in the future, such amazing squads

Paying so much for Andy Carrol is fucking linsane...The guy cant behave, has trouble with the law. He played in the championship last year...has played half a season in PL. This has the potentail of major catastrophe for liverpool and their fans..Its fucking spiteful of torres, putting liverpool in such a position, where they had to act fast to even get a striker to replace Torres..The little faggot could have gone earlier..

It really is a sorry state of affairs for the english league when we're seeing Darrent Bent being sold for 24million and Carrol for 35million the price for Carrol is particulary insane sure he's got potential but he's barely worth even half that :/ as a Man united fan i just hope Torres continues misfiring for Chelsea but i really cant see it happening :p

I really wonder why British players can command such extraordinary fees just for being British. Are they that much more marketable than foreigners? The phrase "no value in the transfer market" constantly touted by Ferguson is actually beginning to look like a valid reason for Man Utd's lack of big purchases over the past few years. It's just sad Newcastle were actually able to hold out for that much because of the lack of British talent.

Have to agree, it baffles me the prices being spent on players i would rate as mediocre at best, England are in a pretty bad shape on a international level at the moment in regards to future talent, alot of the senior team key players getting older and might not even see another world cup. and off the top of my head i can only really name Jack Wilshere who looks like a real world class player of the future who is getting regular games for his club and Joe Hart ofc (correct me if im wrong :p) but imo its not looking good at all.
