Video game references movie and culture that is not 100% current, younger fans are confused by choices they don't understand. I will wait until it comes out, as always, but FF15 has my attention.

They said that Tomb Raider was not successful when it sold like 3 million copies. They might have weird standards. It's very possible. Even the lesser Final Fantsies pulled 5-7m units. This one has a lot more marketing/hype around it.

I get the impression that SE has very unrealistic expectations of successful, along the lines of CoD run away success. Or he is just talking to keep share holders happy. Who knows?

Here's the thing. Tomb Raider did exceptionally well. It was their expectations that were too damn high. Especially during that year, I believe 2012-2013, SE was in incredibly shit financial shape, their JP studios weren't doing good at all, and them blaming Tomb Raider's sales was so out there, when it was the only thing the company produced of value that year.

and about tiem with ffxv. i was doing fanart for this game back in 2007 when it was first announced i was still in highschool. can you believe that shit? 8-10 years. LOL. almost half my lifetime has this game been in the works. of course it'll be a failure if it doesn't sell well. it has to be the best damn game the world has seen ever seen in the genre. this, at least should be coming from someone who's devoted this much time to the game since concepts were being drafted. would you want a decade of your work to be anything else but a masterpiece to your name?
