i never played the old one but when i first played it, it was shit because its shop was another copy of Maplestory (pissed me off) and there were so many Spanish Speakers. and they were all cocky and the server was spammed because of the number of double kills and stuff. i think i might try this.
I really enjoyed Gunbound for a little while after it came out. I got to be really good at estimating power and angles and shit. The different mobiles also made it really enjoyable. Might give this a shot.

Worms is more fun for the first 2 hours of gameplay. I would say GB:Worms would be similar to SC:WC3. Worms has much more variety in shots, but GB is so much more skill based.

A friend and I used to rage teamfights super hard by acting like we were going for a super high angle shot then falling off and triggering our team position swap item at the last second so our teammate got a suicide.
Meh, I just tried it out for awhile, and unfortunately, it seems like basically everyone either has every formula in the book memorized or they're all using calculators/bots. The whole 77 or 79 degree or whatever full power = full screen etc etc. Same old boomer against the wind, first turn dual shot perfect hit from 1.5 screens away nonsense that drove me away from the older Gunbound version.
I recommend playing only with friends or TLers or what not.

I only played about 10 games, and to be sure there were a few people who seemed to suck like me. Suck being relative here, as even though I haven't played in ages, I was still pretty accurate at mid-ranges just eyeballing, and have good decision making/delay management. However, I was still pretty much universally raped. Maybe it'd be better during a non-shitty time? AKA, more Americans/Canadians up. Very few people I played with appeared to speak any English (around 1 AM PST ish)
Edit: Oh and it seems like the damage/life numbers are a bit different from what I remember. Like Boomer special doing 700-800 and bots seeming to have like 1500+? life. All higher than I remember. Ratio is about the same though, so not sure if it matters.

I believe both are doubled. In the old one no stats was 1000hp, this this one it doesn't seem to be uncommon to hit 1k with a dual and come just short of halving someone's life.

Yeah the damage is weird.. And the buddy list still doesn't work xD just like in the old beta days.
ALSO: Turtle SS doesn't change weight after splitting... so now its really easy to pull off

I checked the gunbound forums and to get the friendslist working you should open port 8372. I can't confirm that it's working yet but this might be the solution.

What game type do most people play now? I remember the old standard being 4v4 score which takes ages, then it evolved into 4v4 solo bigfoot on the bunge maps or something? What's the fastest way to gain GP?

Worms armageddon was by far one of the best games ever invented. Nothing beats blowing up other worms with bazookas, old grannies, aqua sheep and a good 'ol shotgun. Oh and the ninja rope was damn sexy.

The amount of nostalgia is hitting me so hard right now. I got into Gunbound at the same time a friend introduced me to Starcraft. It was 2003, my freshman year of high school. I played a lot for a year I think, but then my account got hacked. I remember playing and playing just so I could get all the cool outfits and stuff. The pulled my first and only all nighter playing gunbound. I remember falling asleep in Algebra and World History. I still feel embarrassed... I snore really loud.
I'm having a problem. I downloaded the client and installed. I run it and it loads. All I get though is a black screen. I hear the music, but I can't see shit. I've reinstalled, and directx/graphic drivers are up to date. What could be the problem?
I mean I was running Left 4 Dead 2 perfectly before I tried Gunbound. I also unblocked it from Windows Firewall.

But really, this game isnt worth playing ihmo, the game has been too figured out. Either be a fag and have the best items and play armor and get high speed shots on everyone, or play kalsiddion and get inner shots (splits at the peak) on ppl for like, 400-500 dmg (in origional)
Could try and learn boomer, but armor is just better overall (cant get 2shot KO by asate)
Trico is just a crappy version of armor/boomer
Nak is alright but again, but the dmg is the same as armor/boomer except sometimes you cant hit your opponent
And ofc, kals is amazingly imba if you start on a lower ground than your opponent

I don't think anyone would aimbot on a private server right? Seems kind of stupid. If you're going to cheat for rankings or w.e., might as well be the top of the highly populated servers.

Cheaters would cheat anywhere. For some its just about any recognition they can get. Less people = easier to be recognized.
It's actually really really easy to use a wind formula for most bots (ie not trico or boomer). Anything within 1 screen distance is like 95% confidence to hit, so I wouldn't be so certain of mass aimbotting.

This is very true, in my experience the easiest bot will have to be Grub. For example; I used to be a professional turtle player, been using it for over 3 years and at that time I never missed a shot, though it took me about a year until I could master it. With Grub it's different, since I started to play on this server I've already learned to master it lol. This is how you can do it too, in a heartbeat:
Use angle 70 2/8 screen = 1.3 power bars Half screen = 1.9 power bars 6/8 screen = 2.3 power bars Full screen = 2.7 power bars For wind you use use this wind chart
If you can "master" this you are almost 100% to hit with this bot all the time, plus you will get a ton of money because the bot gives so many bonuses. Now let me just be clear, this is how most people "aimbot" because getting a good aimbot is hard, I've tried to find (not for own use but to see how easy it is, i.e in cs or starcraft one google and you have all the hacks you want) but was unable to, maybe it's easier if you know portugese.
That windchart does not make you hit 100% at all. You would have to gather a lot of experience, and at that point that chart would be useless. That chart is a very loose guideline to how to adjust in wind, it's by no means exact.
For grub you have to change the angle for a "4 in 1". Yes, you can use angle 70 BJSL and still get pretty close to a 4 in 1 each time, but in high winds and long distances you have to adjust your base angle, so I guarantee you are nowhere near to 'mastering' it just based on a little experience.

Well I was talking about 1 S/D in my post but you are right, it takes time to master a bot, that's why I said "master" because what I meant was that it's an easy bot to learn and get wins/gold with. It takes time and practice to get in the "feeling" of a bot and learn the wind calcs in your head. I guess I have an advantage already been through this process years ago. But still... it should be easy to handle Grub once you know these basic guidelines.
I don't get why anyone would use a wind chart or hack. The entire appeal for me is estimating what I would need to hit the guy and then being happy when I'm right. I always played gunbound using just by head and I still got really good.

I agree that playing without anything is what makes gunbound fun. The rush of hitting that impossible shot out of complete randomness and get the "vns" from little chickens dancing around metamines corners. I use charts as a tool to gain confidence and feeling (as well as skill ofc) to the game, it enhances my play but to some extent it will make the game less about fun and more about winning/just hitting the bots. That's why I don't overuse, I just keep them as a tool of understanding the game - that, to me, is fun.

I don't understand why you'd have to reinstall, never happened to me. Sometimes they have maintenance but then you can't access their homepage or start the game. Never had a "reinstall" error.

I go from 1920x1080 to 800x600 no problem. I guess I'm an older gamer though and I don't mind the black bars and slightly distorted 2d sprites as much.

I just played a bunch of games with Boundz(DarKo), and I can say that I'm pretty rubbish! It was good times though. It's always nice to see someone with a familiar tag and at least assume that the person won't be a dick.

I'd certainly be down for any kind of scheduled clan event. Obviously so long as it doesn't conflict with other things, but it sounds like all kinds of fun. Also, I'm 8/72 at the moment! Go me .

Against pros, they would get ripped... aduka games last long enough to get to like lvl 9, 10 thor because aduka does NO DMG for so long...
In 1v1 random, I've won 2 of 11 games as aduka against my friend...
In this version, aduka shot 2/ss is no good. The HP and damage of every bot is doubled, except the power of thor is still the same. Therefore, Thor is weak as hell.
I've played this up until i got to wooden hammer or something. All I remembered was a few vague shots like if it is at 0 wind then 89 full goes so far with these guys, and this far with these guys. I remembered how the wind affects boomer's shots but I dont remember how powerful shots need to be in order to actually hit anymore.
People still refuse to play with anything other than dual, which completely ruins mobiles like bigfoot, only like 2 maps are played which ruins roan and jd and electricdude. It is still the same imbalanced unfun game where all you need to do is memorize how to use boomer and you win.
I might as well be playing wc because there are actually people there instead of only 2 games being open and kicking me immediately because i dont have rank.

Btw I am NOT cheating at all and I am not freekilling. A friend of mine was banned for freekilling his way up to battle axe rank, the admins will know if you are cheating. What I do is I play alot of 1v1 games, you get 7-9gp per game and they go by really fast. I also play casually and as long as you play games and hit good shots you will get gp even if you don't win, if its 2v2 3v3 etc.

I find 2v2's the best for gp because all of the 1v1's i enter are like diamond wand trico pros T.T
It was a rather successful first event, we had 8 TL players at atleast one point in time. I think it was fun, I think we should keep doing this - what do you think?

how many people were there this event? i know there was a full 4v4 TL event game, i was there, and teamTL]XeliN showed up and messaged me while i was afk. then there's synapse, so that's almost enough for two 3v3s if the same people all show up again

We started off with 5 people from TL and a random guy, then we had 8 TL players for a couple of games. Next sunday, if there's more than 8 players we will have to make two rooms or take turns playing. Can't leave people behind.

Since I'm new to this board and I haven't followed IRC chats on GBC server, I wonder what info there is available on wth is going on? I see DarKo's post about the host disabling the server.. does it mean the end... or is it comin up on a different host?

This means that the server will be back, it's just a matter of time. Another thing is that they only have data saved from about 1 week ago, that means everything you did this week will be gone. For me that means about 4-5k gp atleast, but that doesn't really matter as long as we get the server going again.

Tirk and Lance fought against the C&D diligently. In any case, it looks like we've won, but we'll be taking daily snapshots as our host has told us they'll be communicating with "the owners of softnyx.net".
I doubt anything will happen since Softnyx doesn't even respond to anyone without $$$$, and if you give them $$$$, they will tell you "moar $$$$$$$".
And we didn't have to use the backup from a week ago, we were able to get the most recent database because they just re-opened it.
I think I will leave teamTL for another guild, just so I have some active players to team up with. I know I created the guild but if I leave the rank under me will be in charge of adding new members to the guild. This doesn't change anything except I won't be guildleader anymore. Ah, Gunbound brings back so much good memories ... just downloaded it and applied to the TL guild. Is this still active tho? Or have everyone stopped playing it already?
If you are active and decently good you can join team Boss, I started teamTL but started a new clan with the best active players from teamTL and other.
I hope it is better than S2. That game is soooo glitched. When I clicked on tutorial it threw me into a ranked match! At first I was like WTF but then I realized whats happening and lost my first game amid a couple of LOLs. Oh, this whole time the game was showing how messed up it is by constantly ROTATING my screen left to right! So after spending 5 minutes on registering and patching and 15 minutes of playing I quit S2.

1. I haven't really kept up with Gunbound (I've played a long time ago), what Gunbound games \(still be supported) are up now and what are the differences between them?
Like difference between Classic Gunbound and Season 2? What is the official Gunbound game at the moment?
2. Does any of the Gunbound game contain any sort of adware or any really hard to uninstall stuff? I remember reading somewhere (forgot) that one of the Gunbound games installed an anti hack program which was always on even when the game wasn't running. Any Gunbound games have any stuff I do not want on my computer?
3. Does any Gunbound games have play against computer AI?
Any help and answers will be appreciated, thanks. I remember liking Gunbound a lot (I remember especially liking the graphics and the background music), want to get into it again.
Nice, I was pretty damn good at GunBound back in the day. I was a wand before I quit (this was GB classic, before all the areas were split up) and repped the Trico. I might start playing again!

Gunbound S2 added a few new (horrible) bots, different damage, and "item 2" which is basically spend cash and win. AKA it's horrible. Classic GB is the beta (Thor's Hammer), has no Frog/Kal.
Antihack runs when you run the game. Nothing bad about any of the stuff you install with GB (if anything, it was just a pain in the ass to use ijji crap to play gunbound)

Thanks for the response, appreciate it . One of the reason I asked about AI is that I dislike playing with randoms (usually due to most not being newb friendly).
Does anyone here also play Season 2 too also? I know this thread for Gunbound Classic but I searched and there wasn't really another recent Gunbound thread (last one besides this thread and the tournament thread was from 2008). Personally I decided to try the official version again because Gunbound Classic is unofficial and there may be chances that everything is lost due to lawsuits or so (actually I'm not too familiar with the current situation, I'm just guessing so I apologize if I'm wrong >.>)
I DLed and played Season 2, seems fine so far, I have not noticed any glitches (it seems stable so far). I don't like "Item 2" (guess it's a gold sink?) but the new mobiles do not seem that bad. Though I dislike the new voice sound effects that plays (and also can be played by typing a chat command).
It is Thor's Hammer, and the double damage, double hp from the previous server has been abolished. In short, it is a replica of the game at a somewhat mid stage of the Thor's Hammer season. I haven't encountered many bugs in the game, and it seems to be working very well.

I think that there was a period where you could switch back your character, just like when switching to ijji I believe.
Regardless, the newest version of gunbound is far inferior to the classic.
