I know a guy who says that Pensacola people he had met at a few tournaments in Florida had similar experiences with MacD too. So all in all a pretty messed up situation no matter how it went down. | ||

1. Defending him is one thing, but Sky's response acts like he was there for everything, which according to the accusing statement he was not. Basing his statement on the height of an individual and the space in the room is foolish. Assuming that minutia makes the case against Brandon is also foolish if Sky has no proof that these things did not happen. Sky was not there for everything according to Brandon's statement, and that's something I'm willing to accept. Much of the defense Sky made was statements of how something could not happen due to the layout of a room, which quite honestly shows nothing much. Anyone can be pinned down to a flat surface, assuming that two bodies are either too big or one body is too small is a specious defense. Furthermore the majority of his defense of MacD is clearly based on not on some solid evidence, but based on his personal experiences being raped. We can see this from him dolling out advice he is not liable to truly back up and using his personal history to attempt to pin point how Brandon "should" act. Assuming that Brandon should deal with an assault in the same way he (Sky) did is not only narrow, but stupid. Many times people who are assaulted are the ones who go back because they feel trapped, unsafe from worse treatment, or cannot reconcile the fact that they were in fact assaulted. 2. There are some parts of Sky's/MacD's defense that are quite strong, like asking to see a vod of the supposed screaming situation, or how Sky related actions of one night to conversations the group had later. Showing that the other cases where MacD had overstepped the line, but then reconciled and apologized show that MacD isn't oblivious to his own issues, and that's a solid point in his favor. Furthermore Brandon's arguments clearly leave out details that Sky's and MacD's bring to light. The fact that Brandon tried to initiate some kind of sexual interaction with MacD does not make MacD any less at fault for sexual assault, but his initiation with Sky does show that Brandon clearly has a reason to get back at Sky for not reciprocating the feelings. We can also read this in light of the humiliating songs Sky sang to Brandon while Brandon was spooning with the accused. The strongest part though is that these situations were clearly exacerbated due to poor communication. Having meetings is one thing, but Sky points that they did not convey anything of substance after a while and that Brandon's feelings of safety continued to dissolve. We can't blame Brandon for that, but we can say that clearly Brandon did not try to engage in any real interventionary behavior up until recently, and we would be amiss to not ask why. If he was sexually assaulted, waiting this long to make a reveal makes little sense without an explanation. Temporary conclusion: All that being said, much of Brandon's argument cannot be confirmed. There are no sites of forced entry he can show. His only documented witness (in his statement) in his favor as of right now is D1 who clearly has obvious interests to stay away from the situation. MacD's statement doesn't damn him, but clearly shows that Sky has made light of Brandon's issues by showing that pinning did occur, and MacD regularly disregarded previous requests for space between the two of them. Brandon's continued standoff-ish and fickle behavior, does not help MacD's case though. Asking and then not stopping puts the onus on MacD to not reciprocate if he feels that behavior like that is unacceptable on Brandon's part. MacD's behavior, in almost any case is unacceptable. Pinning someone you are sexually interested in to any object is an objectively sexual move. Pinning someone who has accused you previously of disregarding personal space and disregarding personal wellbeing is a stupid and sexual move. MacD clearly has a lot of explaining to do, and even if he is found innocent by a wide margin, he needs to go to a psychologist to evaluate his behavior if its continues to interfer with his life (I.E. comments made to Leffen that caused Leffen to tweet about how they had to have a talk about him going over the line). + Show Spoiler + TL;DR: MacD's self-defense statement seems strong, but is honestly fairly weak. Any one of Brandon's accusations could be construed as sexual assault or intent to sexually assault. Sky's statement shows holes in Brandon's piece and gives a much more complete story, but is based on a wide variety of assumptions that he cannot rightly make while maintaining a voice of assurance like he does. It does however show Brandon had alterior motives that may either be shown inapplicable to this case, or very important depending on new info that may come out. Brandon's story, if true, clearly shows that MacD did regularly cross the line with his physical activity and verbal statements. His story leaves a lot to be desired. He has some hard evidence, but not much, mostly just skype convos that have little context, if he finds the video that Sky referred to in the vods, then MacD's defense is done. Also fuck Sky for saying we would believe him if we knew him personally. He needs to GTFO with a statement like that. That's straight up unacceptable. Not being part of his smash-fam doesn't mean we should condone sexual assault, nor does it make him any less of a despicable person if MacD is shown to be guilty of what he is accused of. Being part of the smash-fam doesn't matter, nor do personal feelings or belief in how a person would act in the face of concrete evidence. Predictions for the Smash Summit? I feel like Mang0's Marth will be exposed (I think it's really hype, but nothing that Armada should be afraid of.) Interested to see if Hbox's reign of terror will continue. I have a feeling Armada will use the weekend to download Hbox and get back to dominating the matchup. | ||
