Forte 3(?) in Texas, but it's a regional at best (though they're flying out HMW + SFAT)

it's not unreasonable, though it seems like some people are being rated more on perceived skill than on actual results

still, that's ok I guess, assuming MIOM panelists vote more on actual results... but it's looking like they're going for "perceived skill" as well

yea perceived skill is obviously a factor, i think using that as a metric is good to a point personally

something ive noticed about the eventhubs list is it has a lot more foreigners than miom tho

Event hubs top 50 isn't too bad. It isn't the way I would have ranked them but nothing stands out to me as absolutely terrible.

Melee is up in the semis against Undertale in GameFAQs' best game ever poll. Currently losing but it's still quite early in the round. StarCraft didn't make a deep run, but maybe Melee can make it to the finals.

It's close, but with Toph being a fraudulent traitor (jk I love you but damn) and not doing a united front I think undermeme will win. Full disclosure, I think that's a great game, but it's not even my game of the year, let alone all time. Toph sort of said it himself when he said Melee could win any year but this is Undertale's only shot - doesn't that describe the best game ever?

Forte 3 pools just came out. I'm in wobbles's pool and hope I make it out. Don't recognize any other names in the pool, but that doesn't mean much because I'm not good enough to be known either lol.

Lgt is a fox in your pool who is pretty good,or at least he wrecks me and some friends regularly.

Salty I didn't make it. Nearly took game 2 from wobbles on stream, but played like ass all my matches except the last one (though obviously other people could have played worse as well)

I did get 2-0d by Lgt but I certainly think on a different day I could have 2-0d him too. Oh well.

Thank you for saying. So often when people talk about smash they mention how bad they played and they could have beaten their opponent without considering the state of their opponent as well. Like how you said other people could be playing bad or maybe they are also nervous on stream (though in this case I doubt wobbles was lol).

Well Wobbles was swagging out LOL
he didn't even try to do blizzard/ice block walls at all, just went and did crazy shit and I got wrecked by sopo last stock and couldn't close it out despite getting him to 130%. Sad times. Don't think I was ever going to win that set.

Forte recap/lessons for me:
1. 9:30 PM pools were ass. Seeding in doubles also kinda suspect. My round 1 doubles match was against another team from the same state. Tournament was very well run otherwise -- shit started on time and people who were late got DQed. It was sweet.
2. Never been so nervous to play before in my life. It's to be expected from my first out of state regional but I had to use the restroom like 3 times in 30 minutes before my pool, I felt so much anxiety. I also really wanted to save Wobbles for last in my pool since in the RR I didn't want to have the pressure to beat everyone else but we had to play our match ASAP. I expect those nerves will fade with time. It was especially annoying though because I was spamming the fuck out of fsmash and just couldn't get myself to stop.
3. Really wish I had pushed for more commentary slots on the TLOC stream. I have a lot to work on in that department but a lot of the people on there were pretty sketchy or said things that were outright wrong.

With Wobbles winning the whole damn thing I really wish I had gotten that game from him in pools. Could have been a potentially awesome point for me.

5. Texas bigger state so more people and more strong players, but also more scrubs. Everyone in my pool played very poorly, it seemed like nobody would DI fthrow/dthrow correctly and would just give me an fsmash out of it.
