@eieio: what are you getting caught by? don't do unsafe moves on shield!! spaced autocancel fair is your safest option vs shielding ics. Figure out the range of blizzards / the weird desync where ics throw nana forward to blizzard.

in neutral, camp platforms and charge needles. Throw aerial needles from the platforms. Force ics to approach. shielddrop fair them when they hit your shield

(jk don't always do this, though it can be good.)

if you're trying to combo ics and even _think_ they can get on the ground / get their shield up, back off!

I end up playing too greedy and trying to extend combos that I have no right to extend, then get stupidly heavily punished. I can normally feel like a split second too late that I've made a mistake D:

But yeah I definitely don't focus on that nearly enough. Plus I just find icies so frustrating that I end up playing too aggressive sometimes I think.

Sheik is a comfort character for me since I've played her since melee came out. Normally I'd be in enough practice to switch to Marth for icies (or maybe even puff if I was desperate lol) but I'm going in pretty cold for tomorrow so playing just sheik unless things get super rough.

Also Leffen's apparently gonna be at nebs ^^ wish I could be there

That video that ghatzu and gravy did of mango vs hax was pretty interesting, even though I don't play falcon all that much theres some stuff in there that I think would be pretty helpful for most characters.

threw 2 of my matches harder than C9 T_T, shoulda been 3-2. Although that still wouldn't have gotten me out of pools so not too upset I guess

also jiano almost 4-stocked me that guy is good lol

Yeah, Sheik vs ICs is a Brawl matchup. Camp the platforms, needle down on them a lot and be content to get minor damage here and there. Buckle in for a long game and treat their shield like lava.

i dont think sheik icies is that bad lol

sheiks punish game on icies is really amazing it's just the neutral is lame

But the problem is most sheiks don't get enough practise at the matchup to know how to 0-death icies off one neutral win the same way icies does to them so they find it a lot more lopsided than it needs to be

I think the neutral is kinda icies favoured though in that regard

icies matchup just needs to be played more strategically before we can say how really bad it is. sheik should ideally kill nana off any stray hit that separates the two imo but you don't see that plan executed very often

I know right. The FGC is really bad at consolidating information, and Smash - despite being an FGC outlier - is no exception. It's kind of sad that my USF4 thread has more (and better) information about players, streams, and upcoming events than do major FGC sites like Shoryuken or Eventhubs.

I wish I had the time to do the same thing for Smash, but I think I'll take this one obsession at a time.
