Things are not terrible for Protoss right now, not at all. Not amazing either, but hardly terrible. The biggest thing Protoss lacks is a superstar player like Rogue and INnoVation are for their respective races. Stats filled that role near the start of the year, but he's dropped off relative to herO, Dear, and Classic since then.

As a fan of his, I'm quite disappointed with his form lately. Such a good start of the year for him. Now, he plays kind of wonky style (basically cheesy/all-in or die). I hope he gets himself together for ST2 or he may be out of BC. Dear and Classic, on the other hand, didn't have a good start but doing well lately. Too bad for Classic in his tough GSL group so he couldn't go far. Dear peaks a bit too late so his BC chance is slim unless he does very well at both SSL and ST2. Classic's chance is better if he does well at ST2.

The current state of Korean P players make me really annoying. We are facing the chance of going to Blizzcon with 1 Korean P player. Classic and Dear have amazing SSL season 2 run, and now look like both of them will not go to Blizzcon. The problem here in my opinion is the points distribution, SSL need to be rewarded more due to its quality. Without more points, SSL Challenger look like a major tournament, and 6 out of 10 players in SSL Premier end up their 8 - week run without points. Don't get me wrong, the prize is still very good, but I still think there can be improvement.

Classic made him look like a fool It's always been his worst, actually. Inno first made his name as an absolute TvZ god, was always pretty damn good in TvT, but ever since the SCV-pull days his TvP has only ever been competent-ish. The MU just doesn't have a very good fit with his playstyle. It's funny because when Zest first broke out he was god at PvP/Z, but his PvT was never the best in korea. Luckily terrans were doing trash at the time and he still managed to win so many tournaments In Inno's defense, I don't think it's possible to win almost every TvP you play like he does in TvT or TvZ recently But I digress. All of the greatest players have their own particular brand of invincibility. Zest had his time(s) of invincibility too, and look at him now. Once upon a time, he could play like a god and win GSLs. Now he's top of the ladder, and nothing else. Hopefully he will rise again in the future, like at the Super Tournament (?).
This is technically true, but it's not like he's had the opportunities to win anything else during that time period. He was already out of GSL/IEM. That one match vs Rogue was the only chance he's had.
Such a shame because he's recently been crushing Inno, Gumiho, ByuN, soO etc . All the guys that are doing well in GSL

For those not watching the WCS standings there is really only one spot up for grabs in the Korean side. The 8th spot held by Byun. The 7th spot is held by Dark who is too far ahead plus he is still alive in both GSL and SSL and playing really well.
SoS and Rogue need to win GSL to get in. It's that simple. Both are out of SSL and too far back in points to catch up piece meal. They must win this GSL and if Rogue beats Stats they will meet in the semifinal.
Classic is still alive in SSL and needs to win that and probably also super tournament and hope that Rogue or SoS do not win GSL. Doubtful.

Seem you have not update the standings for a while. 6th is Dark, 7th is herO and 8th is Buyn. Still chance herO and Buyn get out. Dark is pretty safe now.

I always wonder why people just talk about everything in Zest fan club, even when it has nothing to do with Zest
|
Dark, herO, and Byun are the only ones that could mathematically not make blizzcon.
And Dark is safe only if sOs loses to Stats in GSL. If sOs gets to the final, then there will be enough players that could potentially overtake Dark to kick him down.
In fact if both sOs and ByuN win their upcoming GSL matches, Dark's place will be in serious question

Can we go back to Zest please? The WCS standings of everyone else are not relevant in this thread.

Because Zest sucks this year.

This is from blizzard's own site. Are they not up to date?

Zest is ranked 21st.

Yeah personally i am ok to use this thread to discuss things, etc. But it should be related to Zest in one way or another
|
I guess what is more important than the future of Korean Starcraft or the economic well being of it's players or the world championship playoffs is to discuss ad nausea over and over again why Zest is not good this year. And since he is not in any of these important tournaments and out of the picture we can't discuss them.
Korean Starcraft!
So Zest it is. Ok the question then is who is better looking Zest or Zach Ephron? Which one would you rather have dating your sister or daughter?

Nobody is saying you cannot discuss these things at all, there are a lot of other threads on TL though which maybe would be a better place to discuss WCS standing of other players I mean if Zest for example had a realistic shot at making it that would be different, then that would be a decent topic here. But yeah i don't think it is unreasonable to ask people in here to not use this as a "general discussion" thread. At least find a topic which is somewhat related to Zest and what he does.

Rolltide, how hard can it be to understand what a fanclub is for? It's to discuss a certain player and things relevant to them. This is the Zest thread. If you want more general discussion there's plenty of threads for you.

I remember when Yahoo used to have "clubs". Anybody could start one and there were clubs for everything from rock bands, athletes, teams to movies, hamburgers or pizza.
It was totally at the discretion of the founder what was allowed and they could allow or ban people from the club on a whim.
Yahoo eventually changed the format because so many clubs were dormant with no postings for months or years. Still it was fun especially when the founder and others added news and interesting content.
I remember on a Queen(The rock band) board people were debating who the best rock guitarist was. Then for some reason people were debating what band was better Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin. Then came the complaints about it straying from the topic. I didn't mind they were all great English rock bands from the same era.
We are here to have fun.

Some Zest related questions..
The GSL super tournament. Would you bet something valuable on a Zest win? Your car? Your house?
How would you feel if he won?
Happy for him, or irked that he could not play that well until it was way too late?
|
I expect him to fail to qualify. A fitting way to end his year in KR.
|
Is Zest going to be participating in any kind of streamed tournaments anytime soon? (Thinking September) I wanna watch him play live.
|
He seems to play in most olimoleauges and ballistix weeklies.
