The problem is the Terran is GuMiho. "I have never lost to a Terran more in practice than I did against GuMiho" is what TY said today.

But what does that mean :D If he loses like 30% of the time that's probably a record for him and still not that bad overall :D I am just saying that his tvt should be almost untouchable by terrans who aren't called Innovation or Maru. I think TY is the favorite to make it out of that group

I think TY is the favorite to make it out of that group Well what it means is that GuMiho has a better understanding of what it takes to beat TY than any other Terran he's ever extensively practiced with. Which I would assume includes better players than GuMiho. And also Flash who spent 2 years on the same team (and was always one of the best players on KT in practice).
Of course he's still the favorite. I'm sure everyone in the group would agree.

I feel like you overvalue what he said, players always say these kind of things iirc. Gumiho is surely a good player, but TY is the tvt king and him being humble and praising gumiho in this doesn't change my opinion too much. I also don't think that Classic is necessarily the hardest opponent either. I feel TY should be "easily" able to advance out of this group.

It's a doable group albeit not an easy one. Thanks to Zest he has to practice every matchup now. You're pretty pissed lol Didn't TY himself say he knew Zest would steal Taeja??? ("he gave me a hint during the car ride" or sth like that) If he knew and still picked Taeja, then he must be OK with the swap. I'm not pissed at all. I'm just pointing out that Zest made the group way harder than it was. Also yeah he knew Zest'd swap but until Group A was full he couldn't know who Zest would swap for TaeJa. Imagine if Ryung picked Maru or something. And from that perspective I guess he got lucky it's "only" Rogue, but an extra matchup to practice is something nobody ever wants in these groups. swap Rogue to group D is not his "luck". there is only one specific race Zest wanted to avoid which is Zerg, so it was pretty clear for TY, if a Zerg was chosen into group A, Zest will probably swap him with Taeja. and BTW, if you want to win the whole thing, you have to deal with all three race matchups. you think TY has to practice every matchup now, won't he need to practice when he's in RO 8 or RO4? For the Ro8 you specifically practice for specific 1 opponent in one matchup. For the Ro16 he has to practice for all 3 matchups. That's why nobody likes to be in a group with all races. And you don't necessarily have to deal with all races to win. You can get carried to the finals by one or two matchups, you almost never need all three equally.
one thing for sure: TY doesn't only want to advance, he wants to be a champion, so he has to win against every opponent he'll meet. he knows it .
and surely GSL is not some kind of family party that everyone loves each other. you can't expect Zest to hand out a honey player for TY, in fact they are competitor to each other.
as for Zest, he swapped Rogue out without hesitation after Rogue being so provoking to him and didn't tend to create a teamkill for SKT after Dark did it on KT in SSL. He's realistic man as he claimed .

Well the thing is that the question was "Who do you want to avoid playing the most?" and he went with GuMiho over every other player in Code S. Which leads me to believe he was telling the truth.
Rogue and Classic wanted to avoid TY. GuMiho wanted to avoid Protoss in general. Group D is the group where nobody gets what they want.

Oh that was before he actually got Gumiho into his group? Ok that might change it a bit tbh. Still i believe in TY's TvT

Well TY brought Gumiho upon himself by picking Taeja
|
I don't think he's worried. He was happy when Gumiho got picked. Should be an easy enough group for him.

And TY makes it out of his SSL group in 2nd place. Faces Dark next.

If TY plays Classic in their GSL group he better cheese the hell out of him. Classic is not gonna play bad as Patience did today so TY will be in trouble should they meet.

But honestly Classic looked pretty bad in his SSL group also. He threw against ByuN just as much as Patience did against TY.

The problem I think is that the toss can be bad and TY will still lose. I feel like it gets to his head and he starts playing way below his level. That's how Patience won today.
|
perhaps he just wanted to avoid zest and played worse because of this . I am not saying that he lost intentionally but if u have thoughts like this in ur mind it could make u play worse even if u try to win
|
There is no point discussing these things because it's all hypothetical at best. Let's be happy that TY made it out of the group and that he doesn't have to play Zest (Dark is a strong opponent as well though^^)

Yeah he avoids the team kill and scariest Protoss in the world, which is nice, but ends up with the best zerg in the world.
Poir fella.

Poir fella. It's definitely the way better outcome when you're a high level Terran

TY lost to dark in the cross final, but it was close, and I believe TY will figure it out how to win against dark because he is one of the best terran in the world;-)
|
I'm kind of concerned about his match vs Dark tomorrow. Dark is always scary because of how good he is. But this week he had to practice a ton of ZvT for both GSL and SSL. Who knows what kind of dirty stuff he came up with in the practice house.
