also out.. I dont know what to think about Zests game against Patience. Before he joined the freecs ppl was refeering to him as a B-protoss. But I never understood that, I watched his stream while being rank 1 GM, with sick apm. Patience is really good, and now recently been picking up some decent results in PRO-L. Heart and brain says Zest would own, but the last days had me worrying... I hope Zest reaches SSL-Finals.

Zest can beat Patience I don't think anyone can doubt that, he shoudl logically stomp Dear again and go vs Dark in the finals.

Also we can look on the bright side - TY lost a hard fought series (closer than the scoreline would suggest) playing at maybe just a bit below his top level against Dark who was absolutely on point (seriously he was crazy good) and is already a top player. Much more honorable than Zest's loss the other day.

Kinda sad for him because he always was the kid with the insane potential but apparently it will never lead to anything big :/ Didn't see the matches today, but will check them out later!

His tournament results (esp. in Korea) got better every year since he joined KT. He can still get the gold. As long as there are tournaments left to play in by next year.

He will always be extremely good though.

Much more honorable than Zest's loss the other day. I disagree with the part about a bit below his top level. He did make some games very close when they shouldn't have been however. I do think TY has a few higher gears and I feel like he needs to sort out his late game. Dark's macro is insane and I would never favor TY in a game that goes end game. Even in HOTS he would either kill the opponent through his multi-task harass or a combination of insane micro tricks (remember that thor drop on soO's banelings?) but he would usually end up running out of steam when it actually came to close a game out through a big engagement. I thought it changed in LoTV but it still seems like an issue. Especially in that game where he had no idea what to do against Dark's air army (throwing away ravens and vikings and not splitting vs. parasitic bombs). Not that the result of the game would have been different but he just seemed so blah about the way he played the end of that game. I wish he still had Flash as an example of a macro terran to learn from on his team. KT ByuN please. I really do worry about KT as a whole going forward especially in regards to SKT. SKT has players like soO, Dark, and Innovation who are just macro monsters and once the game's meta gets figured out they become really scary in straight up play. In the past (LoTV) we've always been able to beat them because we come up with some creative strategies or aggressive timings (especially our Protoss). I do wonder what's going on in the KT house however in terms of chemistry and the coaching. I remember last year I wanted to blame the coach because they would have some really silly strategies and player choices for PL but that might be an easy scape goat this time around.

What I'm kinda questioning is his decision-making in the midgame, actually. He always seems way too content to throw down an extra CC and do less pressure while slightly overmaking workers compared to other Terrans on the same level. Same New Gettysburg game, TY just gets ahead in supply while they macro along (trading 1 or 2 units here and there) and expands more without pushing further. Then he was at 75 workers for at least 10 minutes of the game. The same as the Zerg who doesn't have MULEs. On Frost he was making a safe 3rd in his base and then made a greedy low ground 4th that got cancelled and subsequently he was on 3 bases for a long ass time. I'm not even sure having ByuN or Flash on the team would help tbh. Well for one, ByuN thinks TY is the best Terran right now so he probably wouldn't think he could teach him too much. But mostly, TY plays the game in a hugely stylistic way. Most Terrans go for the double medivac stim drop in TvZ a lot, by which I mean a loooooooooooot. TY has never done that build in a tournament match. Instead he does hellion/banshee, hellion drops, mine drops, tankivac plays. That 2 tank push TY did on Frost is not something other players do a lot, and I don't think any other Terran is as comfortable as TY is with his commonly late stim timings. Macro gods ByuN, Flash and INnoVation much rather do the same standard build every game and beat their opponent to death with it. TY does his own thing. I want to give huge props to Dark though. His performance was incredibly on-point. I think if he played even just slightly worse TY would have won the match for sure. If he just drops out of GSL now while playing mostly the same matchup I'll be pissed though. ![]()
