I know this because I am one of them.
But what really drives superfans to do what they do?
What drives any of us to be fans at all?

hang in there guys. By the way, I asked coach choi what the players are doing this week without heart of the swarm to practice, he said: [3/7/2013 12:26:01 PM] Choi (MVPteam): just break time :D

but it's too good, I don't want to delete it, so I'll just post it here. One of the primary reasons why DongRaeGu became so popular and has remained so is because of his unique style of play. Watching a DongRaeGu match, specifically his ZvT (although he he is well versed in all three matchups), is akin to enjoying to a classical Beethoven Symphony consisting of four movements: The first is an opening sonata in which DRG takes an early expansion all while fending off proxy-barracks, hellions or other cheesy builds. This movement can either be slow and stately (adagio, i.e. Beethoven's 1st) if no harassment occurs, or fast, quick and bright (allegro, i.e. Beethoven's 5th) depending on the level of cheese. The second movement is played slow and broadly (larghetto, i.e. Beethoven's 2nd) as DRG techs up to lair and usually takes a spire. The stage of the game is defined by superb scouting by the MVP Zerg player and keen game sense as to detect the opponent's intentions for the mid-game. Then in the third movement, a minuet played in allegro (i.e. Beethoven's 1st) begins as DRG begins his dance in mutalisks. Like many of Beethoven's symphonies, the third movement is marked by free form; for the first time the music breaks away from the rules previously established by the song. Similarly, DongRaeGu's impeccable mutalisk control allows him to finally begin to dictate the game, punish greedy play and threaten counterattacks should the opponents move out. The dance between mutalisk micro and Terran anti-air is perhaps the most intricate and fascinating display of skill to spectate in Starcraft. It is also immensely difficult to master, yet it is through this dance that DongRaeGu had grown his fame. The final movement, as DongRaeGu transitions fully to the late game, is a festive march in allegro that brings the whole symphony together (i.e. Beethoven's 5th). The music exudes joy and absolute victory, just as DongRaeGu, having gained a considerable advantage in the midgame from mutalisk harassment, rolls over his opponent with a tide of ultralisk/infestor/banelings into a roaring crescendo.

As of now I've only watched the Life & Flash match(es). Maybe when I'm fiending for my DRG fix I'll give it a watch. I saw them together in the audience in one of the shots.
