I think he hates the fact that it's not as skill based as BW, and inferior players can take games by cheesing/all-inning much easier than they could in BW. A one- or two-base economy is quite easy to manage in SC2, whereas in BW even that took quite a bit of skill to pull off properly.
Then again he would rage against most things in BW too, so I doubt he really *hates* the game. He wouldn't have played it for this long if the did.

man i miss the old days, there is just no more excitement for me in sc2 (beside the emotional rollercoaster that is watching idra atm ^^)
if idra was the only excitement for you in sc2 you clearly are a person who enjoys these kinds of drama. And yes if you say that the biggest part of the community is made of dumbasess , the community thanks you. They might be dubm as you say but the mass is the one that sustains this structure at the moment. And it is not up to you to decide wether we shouldn't have esports because of this. No one forces you to watch starcraft and complain about it.
It's not just Idra that made 2011 so good though. It was Idra and HuK, Idra and MC, Idra and Boxer, Idra and MKP, Idra and MMA. Watching that video I am reminded of just how much excitement I felt watching that. Truth be told I probably shouldn't say whether I was usually cheering for or against him, but if he leaves starcraft I will absolutely miss him as one of the great entertainers in the game, and frequently one of the great white hopes.

I've watched his stream quite a bit and I can't recall a time where he said "this game is fucking terrible" when he was winning. Mostly it was against protoss players all-inning or terrans getting cheeky with mines/drops.

he has said it plenty of times on talkshows, and people close to him (incontrol) have also stated it several times
Sorry what happened to your team Greg. Don't let it get you down. Everyone makes mistakes, and ill be supporting and watching your games whatever team you decide to go to. <3

Well if sc2 was like BW, trust me the skill gap against the koreans would be huge and almost impossible to win a game. I remember when I was playing iccup the skill gap was superior and that made you scared to play against skillful opponents while in sc2 it's more chill. Idra had a lot of success in the beginning of sc2 and was rated as the best foreigner but he hasn't had the same consistency the last two years so I guess he played it this long because he had a good salary. I don't think he will play much longer if he doesn't find a nice team soon.

You know he probably still has a lot of money, and prolly he is going to attend to a college that you probably would not get an acceptance from.
Just sayin'. He is or was a progamer, don't know if he is going to quit, he is not an idiot. His intellectual capacity is higher than yours. Wouldn't be surprised if IdrA would be the one who is ordering you a Big Mac, instead of you ordering him.

So does that mean he hates the game if he's winning? I don't think so.
I think he is fiercely competitive and small things like bad players getting easy wins against him really gets into his head. If he truly hates the game even when the likes of Innovation vs Life are playing, I admire his patience to stick with it for so long.
On May 10 2013 20:56 chris2423 wrote: you know, the funniest part about all this (if we can consider someone getting fired over nothing funny) is that idra's comment was 100% true, to the letter. when the "community" watches streams, they don't do it to see the best players, they do it for entertainment. idra, whitera, catz, dragon, huk, destiny when he used to play, nearly all your most watched streamers haven't won anything in forever. instead, they bring some type of entertainment. Idra just brings the bm/screw everybody entertainment and plays on the fact that his fans for the most part really are a "bunch of fucks" who enjoy watching a guy rage, whine, and tell people to get cancer or something.
so I just checked twitch. highest watched streamer currently is dragon, at 2500 viewers compared to taeja at 1000 viewers. oh look the guy who titles his broadcast "starcraft2 dragon trollgame" gets more viewers than the guy who titles it "liquidtaeja streaming"
like it or not, idra brings the "community" what they want to see, and every once in awhile he's gotta get fired to do it.
Totally agree. Idra created a popular "BM" character in a certain way and sometimes, he pushes the game a little too far... but I think he does it because he knows it brings him viewers. What he said in his post is true.. because he's the hero SC2 community deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Streamer.

loving to win and loving the game are two completely different things
