They might be dubm as you say but the mass is the one that sustains this structure at the moment. And it is not up to you to decide wether we shouldn't have esports because of this. No one forces you to watch starcraft and complain about it.

If you think people love Idra purely because of Idras bm you are one weird individual, be more rational and think more, you just didn't think really well there.

you clearly don't put too much rationality into your post mr and you don't take them as a whole; i didn't say people in general i clearly refered to the mr.above who said he only considers idra to bring excitement for him. stop considering yourself above others mr idra fan

I follow him because of the way he plays, some of the awesome content EG has provided with him, and because I agree with many things he says.

Relevant once upon a time? Just about any team is probably craving to sign him.

I haven't called myself a fan of IdrA in almost 2 years now, so yeah I really don't belong here. I'm just here for some answers, and I got them. Yeah I'm sure 'all' the teams are begging him to join their team right now. LOL.

i dont think Idra wants any teams. EG is well known to be loyal to it's players and keep em around well past their expiration date. If they didnt re-sign him that could only mean that he asked for money even EG wasnt willing to pay.
And since some money is always better than no money, i think its pretty obvious the choice was his. I dont think he's delusional enough to think he can expect EG-like offers from any legitimate teams at this point.

He just as relevant as anyother even skill wise, why aren't you over to whitera's, bratoks, kanes, seths, pucks, nony's, krass, machines, dayshis fanclubs?

If you want to switch over to earnings than that statement is even more strange with only 6 foreigners being above Idra.

People are being ridiculous when they bring up relevancy, what are you measuring even? It's ridiculous that people for example go on about Demuslim (I love him, no disrespect) being so much superior because
he is tearing up NA ladder? http://www.sc2earnings.com/player/34/greg-fields http://www.sc2earnings.com/player/39/benjamin-baker
to compare late 2012 in tournament wins

What parameters and measurements are people using to base the relevancy of a player? Absolutely ridiculous, was just the same attitude during Huk's worst slumping period, for some reason people are racing to note how he isn't ''relevant'' anymore.

Why? This is so silly in every case for every player that people attest the term to.

Seeing as this is definetely a turning point of IdrA's SC2 career, I'll allow myself to write a few words about our favourite Gracken.

I became a fan of IdrA shortly after I started following the professional SC2 scene, back in the day when Jinro played in the GSL and Fruitdealer roamed free, crushing everyone despite all odds. What drew me to him was, of course, his epic bad manner - after seeing the famous game against Drewbie, where he said "I don't play terran because I have self respect," I instantly fell in love with his attitude. He was outspoken, arrogant, and had results and skill to support his opinions. I used to search YouTube for his games, combing the channels of Husky, Psy and other casters just to get my daily idra fix. I watched the tournaments he took part in, usually losing interst in them the second he got eliminated. I followed his ups and downs, from the legendary Orlando run against the Korean horde to his awful slump after his stay in Korea. I even made a TeamLiquid account and started posting in this very fanclub - I only made several posts outside this thread.

I used to watch his stream and VODs and replays of his games to learn how to play this accursed game, and the things and builds I learned helped me in many a ladder game, finally allowing me to raise from the dark depths of Bronze into high Gold.

Sadly, the last few months have been rather dissapointing. While watching his stream, I started to see more and more anger and frustration, as well as - at least to my noob eyes - a decline in terms of mechanics and decision making. Now, I'm not bashing him; I am and will be a fan of the Gracken, but this i how I felt, to the point where, I'm ashamed to admit, I almost stopped watching his stream, feeling that it's not the same awesomeness it used to be. I will not speculate about the reasons of his recent slump though; there is enough pointless discussions and arguments about that and I don't want to add to it.

On some level, I can see why EG made the decison they made, and I'm not gonna stop cheering for the other players of the team, like InControl or Machine (or even Demuslim, despite the recent controversy between him and IdrA). On the other hand, it's going to be weird, knowing that there's no IdrA among the Evil Geniuses. The two became kinda synonymous, at least to me.

Finally, I hope that IdrA will do what he thinks is best for him - go back to school, become a caster, or continue playing - but personally, I would be extremely happy to see him find a new team or new sponsors and continue playing, while remaining the same good old Gracken we know - but with just a little extra bit of perspective and a liitle less anger. I would like to look back at this day in a few months and be able to say: "That was the turning point: the moment IdrA got his shit together and once again became one of the best Starcraft 2 players in the world."

So, fellow Gracklings, this are interesting times. I don't think this is the end of the story of a player called IdrA. A big change is in the air, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for Greg.

The fictional Dr. House could get away with his BM because of his medical brilliance.
Likewise idra could get away with his BM because of his mechanical brilliance.

But he went 9 months w/o even placing, in the posted WCS game, he's openly mocked for dropping the game after a raven's SM lands on his BL, realising Polt is switching to skyterran, instead of trying to trade off his ultra/BL/infestor army to deal with Polt's addition of ravens into his 4M build, such as adding in vipers, he threw in the towel with 5 stable bases and 3K in the bank for both minerals and gas.

This was his best chance at showing his mechanical brilliance he was famous for and showing the upstart who is the boss of SC2, what a disappointment.

I haven't been here in a while, but this is just crushing. He's always been my favourite sc2 player, and I've followed him long after I had stopped following sc2.
I'm really sorry man.
Look on the bright side: maybe it's time to pursue that physics career, eh?

I'm a fan of Idra for his BM, and I want him to succeed and make a comeback in sc2.

'''he went 9 months w/o even placing''

First off it isn't even true, he was top at the wsc america and had a great run at wsc world championship where he was stopped in his worst matchup 3-1 to rain who would 3-0 killer and sen (who even had time to prepare for him)

Other than he really hasn't even been in a tournament, so how could he have placed when he was waiting for the new season of games? Only thing you can go on is a great game vs polt in which he sadly missed an unscouted base which cost him the game, and then a failed roach bust trying to catch polt being greedy (nobody complains about suppy doing it, while it being a build that depends on your opponent)

And then we have two more games vs Revival which he regretably lost !

This is the same as I said above the same mantra that players like Huk had to endure; that not being in a tournament for a short time and doing bad the few rare times you play = washed up and finished.

This post turned out to be more in general than as an answer, but I can go on more if one finds a zerg leaving after realizing hes on less number of bases while having failed his timing unfair to his fans. I don't find him leaving ideal, but I find it strange that people hawk on him for it, leaving or not the attitude he has been playing with has still garnered him more victories than most.

Anyone know what about the game Idra doesn't like? Balance? Or that it just wasn't fun overall?
