Beautiful tournament by Idra. Best play he's ever displayed. Mental thing about Toss for him still. If he thinks he's playing hongun he can beat almost anyone.

IdrA won 4-3, factoring in the extended series. Pretty damn good play from both sides.

Thanks! :D

Best foreigner for the last three weeks - yep. Best foreigner for the last two months - no way. It's impossible to pick one out of Idra, Thorzain, Naniwa, Stephano, Huk, etc. Huk has had the best tournament results overall; Stephano has had amazing runs since he started attending LANs, Thorzain narrowly lost to DRG at the Valencia Invitational, Dimaga re-emerges every now and then to perform amazingly at a major tournament... If somehow a league that has the best foreigners participating gets established and someone performs at a top level consistently (simiarly to Nestea and MVP in GSL), then yes, we'd be able to crown this player as the best foreigner. At the moment it's impossible though.

Yes to the Code A spot; no to whatever it is that you're asking about Idra being considered Korean ^^

Just to clear something up, they hand out 4 code A invites. And yes, idra is first on the list for code A invites. Whether he takes it or not isn't clear. As I think he is planning to go to korea in december and the invite is for november.

lost against MC...

MLG's format is incredibly dumb.

That has nothing to do with MLG's format, this will happen in any tournament that uses group play. Unless you're suggesting Idra & MK should have played a tiebreaker match (don't think anyone actually does this)

I for one would've wanted IdrA to win the gold in this tourney. He's been craving it for a long time in a major tourney and against such strong players, esp against MC. IdrA vs Huk finals would have been tight as well.

It's three Code A spots and Idra already stated that he plans to participate in GSL when he announced that he's going to spent some time in Korea, so it's safe to asume that he'll take it.

He has a major tournament every weekend for the entire month of october. So I highly doubt he'll be streaming much at all until we're past this bit.

This being the case, I'm curious as to everyone's expectations of IdrA in what I'm going to go ahead and call 'The Month of Grack' since he is playing in every legitimate (non GSL) tournament this upcoming month. What are all of you expecting out of him performance wise?

Myself, I'd like to see a top 3 at IEM China, I feel like he has a good shot there since he got a good 'Korean' draw getting Jinro, but it also hinges on the assumption that Chinese players simply aren't as proficient at the game yet. At IPL3, I think to see IdrA place in the single digits would be huge, not only is it a huge player pool and there will be a lot of Koreans, but he will just have traveled halfway around the world and will likely be suffering some fatigue issues. For MLG, not gonna lie, I really want to see top 3 as well. He got a decent group, and depending on the player from the Open Bracket, if IdrA takes the series against Boxer, I don't see many scenarios in which he wouldn't win that group.

Let's go IdrA, if there was ever a time to lord your abilities on the rest of the world, it's now.

Quoting myself, because I'm proud I forsaw what would be an awesome 3 weeks of play from IdrA. Just a pity he couldn't get past MC in the losers semis.

Sorry, there are no tournament with pool play where the second of the pool goes into the looser bracket.

Group play should be used like it is in the GSL. Top 2 continue through and the rest are out. You don't need a losers bracket with pool play, since round robins already give the players multiple chances to win against different opponents.

Also, if you need proof that the MLG system is dumb, look no further than the fact that Incontrol and Tyler are still in the top 16 players...

But good tournament by Idra. Still needs to work on his ZvP though. Being in Korea he should be practicing with Huk a lot, so hopefully that will help.

So, is Idra going to be using the Code A invite he won, or will he not be in Korea in time?

If they just did 2 BO3 with Huk only needing to win one...which they would do if they got rid of extended series..then it would have still only been 2

Congrats to Huk, I think IdrA could have easily switched places with MC if only he made better decisions in game 3.
