To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

AllKpop is a horrible site really... They're known for posting false information that usually end up in a fangirl war. They're only good for behind the scene work like what they did w/ Epik High and the Wonder Girls in the states.

It's probably going to be a bad thing. Livestream chats are bad enough.

Dunno, but I'm pretty excited. Last night's pregame party was quite fun.

On side note, I thought f(x) was quite disappointing. Everyone was hyping them up to be some ridiculously great dance group, but turns out Lachata had like less dancing than singing. Vocals were rather weak IMO, but damn the rapper was good.

No lies, that Tomboy owned CL.

I wasn't expecting much of f(x) - Lachata or 4 Minute - Muzik but after watching these i was surprised they came out better than I expected.

I was pleasantly surprised with f(x). They sang pretty well for their debut. Their vocals definitely aren't bad compared to a lot of the other girl groups. Their dancing wasn't anything overly flashy although nothing too special. I was impressed mostly with Krystal and Amber, their singing and rap were quite good. Definitely better than I expected out of the group.

And I didn't like the Muzik perf because of so much autotune.

I'm no expert on rapping, but I didn't get that impression. Amber (aka the Tomboy) did a very nice job rapping, but I don't think she "owned" or displayed better rapping skills than CL in either performance. That's not to say that she isn't better, but I just didn't see it from the clips I've seen so far.

So far I'm still leaning towards CL as the better rapper, probably because I've heard her rap more and also because she just has more of that hip hop swagger when she raps. I really liked her part in "The Leaders"

I agree. There is no way you can tell who is a better rapper based off a 10 second clip of Amber rapping for the first time.

CL's voice is annoying. And 4Minute's Muzik is worse than Hot Issue. Too much autotune, plus Hot Issue was at least somewhat catchy.

Strong Girl by Jewelry is awesome. This is just the song, there's no music video for it on youtube (I really have no idea why). I really can't wait for them to realize that Vari2ty is a terrible song and start performing this instead.

Lachata live was not bad either.

f(x) is SM's equivalent to 4minute.

it sucks

Thankfully, I could BARELY tolerate Lachata live. When I got the mp3 though, that's a different story.

thats like saying the rappers in suju or 2pm are good rappers. Practically anyone can rap like that. Althogh CL has her style u cant really call it good rapping. Someone like tasha is a good rapper. But then again u are probably just talking in the context of these mass apeal groups

oh and its quite common to tone down the choreography when groups sing live. Im pretty sure this was a less intense version but i could be wrong

I always thought good rappers were people like Nas or Biggie; you know, people who actually WRITE their own raps...I guess that's different in the kpop industry?

Yes seriously, these people aren't really "rappers." They are just talking fast.
Kara's Nicole is supposed to be a "rapper." Are you kidding me?

good stuff

there are more people than you think that write their own lyrics, G-Dragon is a perfect example.. he writes stuff for BIG BANG all the time, and not all american rappers write their own lyrics either

when you hear "rapper" in terms of groups like 2ne1, f(x), etc its more of a measure of how well they can flow with their lyrics. There are only like a few legitimate female rappers, like T and e.via mentioned above. (maybe Annie too... old school Tashannie days). I really can't think of anyone else other than those... the hip-hop field in Korea is mostly male dominated though (which shouldnt be unusual to anyone).

What annoys me is in T-ara, EunJung and HyoMin are known as "rappers" but they're far from it... they're only doing those "parts" because they needed to find someone that was capable enough to do that, so in come those two...

I'm tired of Engrish and asian artists so for my own benefit...

yup g-dragon writes for himself and for other members of his groups.

Many people have ghostwriters; P. Diddy admits that a dude named Mad Skillz did some ghostwriting for him. Even huge stars like lil wayne and jay z have people write lyrics for them all the time.
