PPL on the other hand, I hope I am not going to offend anyone but I feel like these types of groups are a bunch of callgirls wanting to get famous and just signed up for the same label and with a little bit of training try to make it happen.
Yeah, I'm surprised more people don't know how common plastic surgery is in Kpop. It's kind of a messed up fact about a kpop idol. There is massive pressure for you to look good and you are very desperate to succeed or stay relevant. That combination makes alot of idols go under the knife. People only think about the obvious ones that got plastic surgery because those weren't done very well. Alot of idols get plastic surgery that you don't notice anything except that they're handsome or pretty. But if you compare before and after pictures, it becomes very obvious.
Well, there ends my rant.
Here's Lovelyz doing an acapella of Beat It. This ones very good. Their best since the "Word Up" one.
The thing is Luna had massive plastic surgery done. She looked perfect in Red Light with that blue:ish hair. Shame she had to resort to that crap.
Can we keep baseless and condescending comments about plastic surgery out of the thread?
Luna looking great in Red Light and 4 Walls promotions: + Show Spoiler +
Only differences is her chin being tilted down a bit more in the Red Light image which causes a bit more of the nostrils to be blocked by the septum.
Please, please, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease don't use photographs shot off angle and with uneven lighting as evidence of anything...
Baseless... condescending... Lmao.
If you aren't aware, probably 98% of Kpop idols have had something done. It's pretty rich of you to come into the thread with 0 posts and start to demand things. But I guess you can keep living in your bubble if that makes you happy thinking she hasn't had anything done, I don't care if you believe it or not but you have to be pretty naive thinking they haven't.
Rania held a showcas where they performed their other song on the album and Alex had a solo rap performance. Some photoshoots, and some random talk also.
not really a fan of some of those groups and the group i am interested in doesnt seem to do so good (clc)
i really like that tiny girl in loveleyz thou, twice has the short hair girl who stands out to me.
btw i always wanted to aks, how did u guys start with kpop, and do u guys really listen to it besides in your basement - do u ve any funny stories like singing along on the bus or stuff? (i did sing "i dont need a man") was kinda embarrasing :D
for me it all startet kinda as this thread, as a joke in broodwar but then i stopped listening to buckethead and kpop was the next best thing at hand and it grew on me. nowadays i am going out and am open about my kpop taste in music without giving a shit that they look weird at me.
I dipped my feet into it back in middle school, which was like... 14 years ago (god I'm old). I got into Shinhwa and some other boy bands then eventually fell in love with like BoA and some others thanks to friends. Around that time a friend of mine also got me hooked on like Shin Si Kyung and I started to listen to a lot of ballads too.
I was never so into K-Pop that it was like the main thing I listened to though (except maybe for a brief spell in high school). Back in middle school I was more into like RnB like all the other Asian kids back then. Then I got super into Japanese music (which is still what I listen to the most now).
Nowadays, K-Pop is just a source of eye candy for me mostly... When I want to listen to good Korean music I lean more towards Urban Zakapa and ballads.
I got into anime at a young age and grew up watching some. So Japanese music was where it started and I started liking BoA a lot somehow. Who at the time I didn't know was Korean. I actually forgot which song it was that I liked so much. But this song was also in BoA - BEST OF SOUL and it was the first album I bought. And then came a guildie from WoW, who was also cantonese and introduced me to SNSD - Into the New World. Brah, we were all sold. Kissing You and Girl's Generation were already released, so must have been late 2007~.
It's funny when I listen to these oldschool SNSD songs that I think back to those times and my WoW experience in Outlands, raiding I have that with several other albums and I get to re-experience those scenes I spammed certain albums on. Anyone else?
edit* it was BoA - Amazing Kiss :p And ofcourse, there was the BoA vs Hyori debate between me and that friend. 10Minutes, too good.
was really into broodwar but surprisingly it wasnt the main thing that got me into kpop, back in high school i didnt have a mobile phone, and the rage was those phones that could take up songs and play them. I remember in physics i sat down to a chinese friend and he had c-pop, j-pop, and k-pop songs on his phone and would let me listen the first song that i really like was bigbang-forever with you ( it only really had gd and top with parkbom) and i thought it was so good when i got home i looked up the song, found haruharu thought it was amazing and i knew my sister dabbled a bit into kpop and asked her what groups she liked and she gave me dbsk, 2pm, and 2am and it just started from there.
I mostly listen to boygroups cause i find the dancing really cool and the songs are just something more i can related to or sing with, never been too into the suggestive dancing side of female groups theres just a nice correlation for me personally that says more sexy dancing=worse song. That being said its not like i cant appreciate a pretty face and nice figure.
I also spam songs, till the point where i dont wanna listen to them anymore lol.
edit: also just to chime in on the plastic stuff, im pretty sure its not what people sterotypically think when they hear plastic surgery u know those huge bloated lips alien like eyes that just look terrible a face that actually looks like plastic from a barbie doll. Thats more of like the western view i think, the korean thing for most (pulling this out of my ass) is small touch ups right, the double eyelid, nose??, chin and the biggest changing one is probably jaw (idk i cant ever seeing myself wanting to change my face that badly but i guess when PART of ur job is to look like a supermodel makes it more desirable)
Either way props to the makeup artists, they make everyone look great.

Must've been like.. 9? Years ago that I was really into Jpop just by coincidence after randomly stumbling upon Goto Maki - Ai no Bakayarou and from there I discovered BoA who had some japanese songs like 'Rock With You' and after clicking on enough BoA videos I clicked on T-ara - Good Person and then I was hooked. I still listen to the same old jpop artists like Goto Maki, Ayumi Hamasaki and Aya Ueto but they are all except for Ayumi retired singers by now so not a lot of jpop for me anymore. I always found it was a lot easier to follow the Kpop scene than the Jpop one. Maybe it's just that I was older and knew how to look better but I dunno, Jpop somtimes felt like a struggle to hear about new stuff.
My family knows I listen to it, I even passed it onto my little brother who listens a bit. I do listen to it at work but I try to keep it a bit hidden heh not sure why I guess I just don't wanna put the effort in into explaining what it's about to people, just easier to keep that shit minimized
Actually didn't really get into kpop until like SC2 streams blew up. I had heard songs before, like SNSD - Gee etc. Think the first kpop song I heard was BigBang - Oh My Friend (funny how different they sound now) + Show Spoiler +
Watched a lot of sc2 streams and it sort of snowballed from there. Sort of like Shock, for me a good choreo increases how good the song is. That's why I like BTS/B.A.P because I think they are the best dancers. Also really like GFriend/The Ark/Red Velvet because their dancing is cool too. If the group just tries to be sexy (cough stellar) then the music usually suck.
Then there are some standouts like LeeSSang (which I own every single album of aww yiss), Nell, Epik High and AKMU who are just great music producers.
I highly recommend watching this from around 3min in:
Wasn't trying to start a slap fight or trying to deny that plastic surgery is common place. Was speaking speaking specifically about Luna and specifically about DwD's:
The thing is Luna had massive plastic surgery done. She looked perfect in Red Light with that blue:ish hair. Shame she had to resort to that crap.
Ok, what has she had done since the Red Light promotions?
I'm not sure why I need a post count of shooting the shit in here to ask for people to not post things that are simply not true. I've been lurking in the thread since I saw Kpop girls introducing players for GSL in 2011. People can go read other sites for "Netizens complain that idols need to breath" level content.
Have a Luna from when she was still a muscle girl:
The thing is Luna had massive plastic surgery done. She looked perfect in Red Light with that blue:ish hair. Shame she had to resort to that crap.
I'm not sure if condescending is the right word but calling it crap goes beyond even spouting baseless theories as facts, which is pretty bad in the first place.
Insulting post counts is just bullying and having no reasonable arguments, isn't it?
By all means I think we can discuss the state of Luna's face but we can do so reasonably, can't we? All parties involved.

I think I first heard of BoA maybe 10-12 years ago. There's was some guy on a forum that was a big fan of hers. I'm not sure when I would've first heard any music though since it wasn't so easy to listen to something online in those days. Not sure if youtube even existed. I think I payed more attention in 2009 to 10 with some of the kpop stuff played during starcraft broadcasts. I recognized a lot of songs I heard there and found around that time so I must have been exposed to more of it earlier than I thought. Not sure there's much interesting that's happened to make a good story, lol.
I've never really hidden it from anyone. My family members like Kpop as well. I do all the work of finding the good stuff and they try to reap the rewards, usually.
You don't need a post count for anything, my point was that if Im new at some place, my first post probably isn't going to be one that demands people to speak in a certain way when some people here(including me) have been here for 5+years and we are used to a casual tone especially compared to other forums and sites. Maybe that's just me I dunno... But let's set this topic aside since we are just going to disagree anyway and debating without hard evidence(since neither of us can get that) serves no purpose but to anger each other. Welcome to KMD! Good idea to finally make an account and start contributing!

If anyone is interested in a signed Rania album now is probably the time to chip in on the makestar site since it's close to hitting the goal. I'm not sure if they can go over once they hit the goal but if they can't you probably can't reserve an album. I just tossed 35$ into it for the signed CD! Wooo! http://en.makestar.co/projects/singer_rania/
P sure resort to that crap refers more to her looking pretty good before surgery and now its not that great. Plastic surgery happens all the time, with Luna it just seems that they made her into a completely different person. I imagine most plastic surgery is done predebut or when idols are still growing so it comes across as more natural. Luna's change is just so drastic. Personally she just looks completely different now, one look not significantly better then the other.
Then again I only watch F(x) for Krystal so what do I care.
