original version of shinee's dream girl. pretty cool :D
Trouble for SM? Well whatever, I still love Dream Girl.
No, because they most likely bought the rights to the song, same as with most of SM's singles nowadays.
I don't think they even need to buy the rights to the song; couldn't it even be considered a parody? like what Weird Al does? It's more than different enough for SM Ent, to justify it.
I'm pretty sure Weird Al gets permission from all the artists whose songs he parodies; I'm not sure if he needs to though.
And AFAIK they're claiming the song is an original, so to me that seems pretty fucking shady. You can't claim you composed something so eerily similar to another song.
There are like a couple notes in the chorus that are similar and that's about it. Hardly enough to call it plagiarism or that they would have to buy any kind of rights.

He doesn't need the permission, he does it out of respect. Also, plenty of rappers/hiphop artists straight up sample songs, and they claim their work is original. Imo, it's plenty enough difference for it to be considered original work.

Sampling and straight lifting a song are two different things.
I guess whether or not it's a copy can be debated, but you can't use sampling as evidence that it's not plagiarism.

I don't know if you can even say it's lifting a song? I'd argue it's more akin to a remix.
My point wasn't that they did lift it, I'm saying if it is plagiarism that's what you'd be looking at, and talking about sampling or whatever is irrelevant.
It's similar enough that I can see the resemblance, but I guess I'd leave the plagiarism or not for the lawyers or whatnot to decide.

I guess it'll vary different from country to country, but as far as I know USA is pretty open to the interpretation of "creativity" in terms of musical work.
International law is pretty nebulous; you can get a way with a lot of stealing. Normally it comes with heavy backlash from the fans in cases where it's actual theft rather than just buying someone's song.
Didn't really like this song at first but it's pretty fun live. Besides, their dancing doesn't look so pathetic when they are having fun with it instead of trying really hard to look cool like their previous songs.

6 new songs and sexy concept. Hyped! Remember, march 14th =). I can't believe this is actually their first album in almost 3 years. This better be a hit.
Sad that Jihae isn't with them, anyone know the good reason why she quit? Not sure how much they work or how much they earn but if you love singing, dancing and attention isn't it like a good job atleast? And Girlsday also have some good songs so me not understand, happy sad day...
She's not amused and is looking for something worthwhile through the sunglasses dude.
Now that I'm googling it, her iris are really dark. And if you try to look deeper into them, like an egg soaring through the sky hoping to become a chicken, you know it's going down.
