To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

As I said before the Hello Venus signs are most likely legit- the reddit thread I linked to has pics that compare both and the signs differ subtly- the star drawn in the corner looks different in different shots and Lime does not always print her name next to her signature. Haven't seen other copies of the DS album so I have no way to prove/disprove Craton's claims but the HV albums look legit.

I have always thought that Hyuna from Nine Muses is one of the best looking idol in the biz. Watching dolls live just reaffirmed it for me. Heres some (low res:/) pics i found:

Those signed albums are pretty sick.

Hope Rainbow's new song/album is good. They haven't released something in like 2 years it feels like, so at least they have had a long time to prepare.

There's something to be said for constructing your group based on good looking (in 9muses case also tall) members. It's not necessarily gonna lead to success, otherwise they and groups based entirely on grouping racing models and ulzzangs together would lead the industry.

Yepp i agree Dys, I think one of the problem with Nine Muses is that the members don't really have different charms and are hard to differentiate from each other(they are just models with ok singing ability). And also that Koreans tend to like more cute/bubbly types rather than beautiful models. Hyuna still OP tho

The largest problem that Nine Muses probably have is the most common one. They don't have a large company backing them up.

When YG releases its new girl group(if ever, I thought they were supposed to last year) then I expect it to be a success no matter what they do despite being the 238423952th girl group.

I just want more comebacks from old groups...2pm/shinee in particular. Fck debuting rookies.

Interesting, I didn't know they flopped. Thought they were doing well for themselves.

A Shinhee comeback I would like, 2PM not so much.

I'm somewhat sure the new YG girl group will be successful but I'd say it's only because it's YG. Their fans seems to be more on the same page and everyone supports everyone pretty much. A big company behind you is great but it it only goes so far.
Look at GangKiz for example. Spent a fuck ton on MV's, mad hype etc and now where are they? Like 10:ish months since they released anything and I haven't heard anything about them either.

Yeah its a shame that Gangkiz seem to have flopped, enjoyed both their promoted tracks, though that could be because they could have easily been T-ara songs.

All I hear from my Korean friends is how outside of dudes really into idols a lot of Koreans don't know who exo are/only know them because they're from sm but dont have any actual interest. Apparently they're a lot more popular with foreigners, cause of fans who stan a company and because foreigners are a lot more likely to bite on "media play" than Koreans are.

Seven months, with which CCM pushed T-ara, debuted The Seeya + secondary promo, and ...redebuted(?) Speed. Not like there was any room to have them make a comeback. Granted an OST or variety/drama/movie face time would have been a sign of health.

Evidently, one of the actress members did have a small part in a drama during the down time.

Weekly Idol forever a rewarding interview show.
Too bad it felt way too short, didn't even let them do any nomming speed challenge at the end as the show had been doing as of late.
Though, I guess a lemon would fuck up their paper cup diet. Hoping there'll be a part two with unaired portions like they did for Rainbow.
Either way, fuck yeah Dal Shabet next week!

Hyuna, but as a wise group once said, "Nothing lasts forever".
At least there's still Minah's sister, but really, with a name like Bang Hyuna the purity won't last for too long.

Both really. My friends echo what has been said in this thread before, that the rush of idol groups really hasn't done much. What I hear is that basically the last group to hit any sort of real popularity/mainstream recognition is A Pink, and even then they're barely known and only Eunji is known on an individual member basis (for Reply 1997). At this point it's just that the number of groups have saturated the market, and even if you're talented or pushed well (and as a group that had something like 3 dozen teasers leading up to their debut EXO sure was promoted) there's just too many groups vying for attention. Even groups that have sort of caught on in the international community like BAP aren't really well known- like I said, AKP prints a lot of shit and Korean entertainment news sites are known to accept money in return for positive articles (MYNAME lately has been the biggest culprit of this) and generally shitty journalism in general (the same reason ESPN broadcasts really dumb stories, because on a 24/7 cycle you just need shit to report), which leads to the false perception in the international community that Koreans really know who these dudes are. The only idol acts that have really caught on from 2nd half of 2011 onward are like Juniel and Ailee (and Busker Busker if you count them, which I don't). Everyone else has largely gone unrecognized, or are popular only among whatever the Korean equivalent of wotas are.
