To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

Talent is all well and good but music is not just about technical proficiency, and pop even less so. That's not to say I dislike all the male stuff, but my korean mp3 player is 95% female because that's what is pleasing to my ear. My western stuff is pretty much the opposite, though it's almost all guitar music and old rap, typically male dominated genres.

When you are singing and dancing hard at the same time, it all comes down to stamina. In addition to physical differences between the two genders, female idols are for the most part starving themselves while guys are bulking up (eating more than normal + working out). Guys being in the lower frequency spectrum, have more a forgiving range anyways. They all work with whatever circumstances they are in.

I like that song too, just sad that we never got to see A Pink back-up dance for Mario live.

This is of course very true. Otherwise this would Classical Music Discussion and we'd all be discussing Bach or whatever.

For the male groups, it really depends~ Though they have been growing on me a bit more. But when it comes to actual content of music, male dominated genre's are often much better, (such as rock, alternative, rap, hip hop, etc etc.). I think we can agree on that we're all okay with girls using dem visual advantages.

Insulting SNSD is bad, but insulting Cpop really is the next level of moral unacceptability, we're like their only supporters (slight exaggeration but...), it's like hitting your own children. Shameful display!

SNSD can take a beating, they're grown up. Every time some one says bad things about Crayon Pop, I imagine a 200lbs martial arts expert kicking a 8yr old in the face with all the force he can muster. That hurts my feelings

On another note!

Loen Tree something
The two IU pictures are good.

Minzy and Dara jogging isn't really noteworthy news, but Dara's outfit wtf?!

Whoa, someone is looking to get ostracized, dissing Crayon Pop is a major nono.
Remember, they're going to be KMD's entry into the world of kpop.

I'll admit I spent longer than I should have wondering what Chinese pop had to do with this.

I may be reading this wrong, but it looks like live chat with 2NE1 in ~6.5 hours?

I feel like female groups tend to sing in unison more because it's pleasing to the ear and cute when performed live. Seems to me that boy bands have a higher bar for individual vocal or dancing talent because there's less demand for pure visual members. I also think this is why you see more large, 6+ member girl groups being successful over boy bands (SuJu being the huge exception).

I originally started with all girls, but now my MP3 player is now about a 50/50 split.

My favorite Dara outfit. She looks like she could be on the Flintstones.

If you're looking for vocals you shouldn't listen to Kpop in the first place

Silly argument, foreign language vocals can be just as pleasing as one in your own tongue. Some of my favorite hymns are in Latin.

Apparently I'm the only one that actually likes the music. I think they're all very cute but for me Ellin is the only visual reason to watch but I like the group and the songs so it all works out.

I told my self i wouldn't listen to boy groups because they're all so "gay", yeah i got over that quickly, most of my current favorites are from boys. Beautiful night FTW.

More talking, they changed clothes.
Inane questions from fans. One about shoes, another about which male popstar they like.
Pretty sure this announcer used to be on Star Golden Bell. Can't remember her name. (Park Ji Yoon, I was right)
Legs appear again, briefly.
Some old dude won something! (why is this so awkward?)
Thought that was going to be a HSY solo for a minute. Not today, boys. Turned out to be Miss You.
Song I've never heard, not from album.
Honey!

NICOLE FELL OVER! HAHAHAHAHAAHHA!

credits roll.

Worth watching if you are a Kara fan or want to see Nicole fall on her ass.
Thing to take away from this showcase: HSY is gorgeous, I would marry that chick in a heartbeat.

I like this version. It was like a tl;dr version without all the bias.

Also, after watching the live performance, why does Nicole look so... manly?
