Lets talk about your best reactions to people hearing your music and giving you their best "wa da fuq" face.
I don't crank my music when I drive but I went from listening to 'danza kuduro' to 'Day by Day' and the people at the bus stop were looking at me pretty funny.
"Oh he must be some spanish/portuguese guy foreign music ok. Wait is that some Asian music? Wow so wierd...."
Bus to college, Girl's Day - Nothing lasts forever blasting out of my headphones, oblivious to how everyone on the bus can hear the screeching and lift my head to 2 18 year old girls in front staring directly at me giving me the biggest "the fuck is this guy listening to" faces.
Haven't been as impressed with their second album as the first. I think I linked most of their stuff by now. Definitely check back through friendznet's youtube channel. There are some absolutely brilliant tracks by them in there.
I can say with a feeling of supreme pride that I discovered friendznet on youtube well over a year and a half ago, when they only had a sprinkling of views. It's the same feeling you guys will feel when Crayon Pop wins their first award.
Watch this from 0:56 to 1:10. Not sure if it's the lighting or some crazy voodoo, but I'm willing to admit I think she makes my Eye-Smile-O-Meter hit Tippany levels.
And regarding friends reactions to K-Pop. I've received a lot of reactions throughout the last year where I've followed K-Pop quite heavily. Some bad, some very bad, some indifference here and there and some have adopted K-Pap without hesitation. What's interesting though is that no matter who and what, SNSD has always been the group to open the floodgates (Genie and Gee), even if they aren't the first I've introduced. My former tactic was to open with Mister and then transition into Abracadabra and A to get people's attention. It had a rough 50% success rate, but people quickly forgot about it as well. This is where SNSD comes into the picture. You would think the former songs would be able to get the job done at least as well as SNSD, but for some reason I haven't been able to figure out yet, dem SNSD legz gets them every time (almost, more on that later). This is naturally very understandable, but it seems I'm the only person I know who didn't come into K-Pop through the SNSD throwing their legs all over the place. I guess I'm the only one in my entourage who completely skipped the "OMG LEGS" stage and went right to enjoying true quality K-Pop (which would also explain why I've got Crayon Pop on repeat, obviously). When my ears were destroyed from being exposed to K-Pop 24/7, I returned to look at legs to much amusement to the people around me since the consequence of that was me spamming gifs and pictures all over the place.
Now, there's a few people which I haven't been able to shove K-Pop upon successfully (Gangnam Style helped tremendously though). Whenever I try to sneak some K-Pop into their lives, they respond like someone who's almost got run over by a car. They do admit that they're cute though but anyone with a hint of a soul does that, so that's not really a biggie. There's a big difference between thinking they're "cute" and "omgqtpies-cute". It's also worth mentioning that these guys are the only ones of the people I've exposed that are REALLY into music. One of them plays guitar in a band (well, they disbanded a few days ago) and hears tons of hard rock and... dubstep, while the other was a professional DJ a few years back and listens to anything really that isn't Country or K-Pop (I think it'll be easier to make him listen to Country than K-Pop though).
I think it'd be fair to assume that the fact these guys listen to SO MUCH different music would lead them to think K-Pop is shiet since, and let's be fair here, there's a lot of music out there that's got a higher production value than most of K-Pop, but I have a hard time believing this is the reason because if I look at myself, I eat music like a golden retriever eats.. everything. Right now my iTunes is shuffling between K-Pop and Dark Knight Rises soundtrack, so my range of music spans more or less the entire galaxy.
That was more typing than I had planned
tl;dr : I know two guys who hate K-Pop, and Soyul is awesome.
Someone linked Love is so amazing in here about a year ago and I've been a fan ever since. Sketchbook appearance, Drama OST, collabs outside of friendznet. Slowly getting recognition.

Don't think that's the idea people have about them but 1000 followers on twitter, not many youtube views so absolutely not mainstream.. yet! They do however book some nice gigs but reading various comments it seems most followers might not be from korea or maybe it's just KMD and my fan bias clouding my judgement about their fanbase. It's kinda cool though following a "new" group starting up and getting bigger and bigger and something we can pretend we help achieve
Most people only look at J Rabbit. LeeSa and Yana are also both exceptional artists under friendznet. These are usually the first ones I link to people familiar with kpop.

Wait, people actually think Crayon Pop is "underground"? I thought people were saying it ironically. They're just as popular as you would expect a rookie group from a lower tier entertainment company to be.
