First off we can agree that the director/cameraman grabbed Hwayoung and pulled her away.

Then she decided to move to the back or out of the way. Maybe she was asked to this? Hwayoung then tripped and Hyomin hit her on the back while she was falling. This probably didn't mean anything serious, maybe she meant to stop her from falling?

Now this is where this scene can be interpreted differently. Hwayoung definitely is on the floor from tripping, but no one seemed to care or decide to help. Maybe she decided to just stay out of the shot so the filming could continue. Or she's fixing her shoes while she's on the ground? It just looks like the members just ignored her. Boram, I can't tell what she's doing, maybe she's helping her, maybe she's scolding her?

Innocent or not, things like this is just adding fuel to this wildfire.

I've been saying for years that if Kpop wants to break into the American market, they need to sack up and learn to come with their own unique flavor, not just try to do some cynical shit derivative American R&B riff. I don't get why every time Asian artists come to America they suddenly try to become second rate black singers. Utada did it, BoA did it, Wonder Girls tried to do something a little different, and had a bit more success, but in the end their stuff was just kind of haphazard. It was like a wannabe American girl group but with a throwback 1930's feel.

PSY is his own brand of awesome. TBH, if I had to pick another act right now in Kpop who has the balls and the personality to make it in America, I'd say it's Jo Kwon or Tiger JK. Everyone else is just too manufactured. But KkapKwon is his own special kind of crazy, just like PSY.

If they had really wanted rid of Hwayoung as a group, that is understandable and it could have been handled in a way that would have not caused any of this backlash by pushing her into acting or another group perhaps.

Korea has gone from a poor asian country to america clone in 60 years and the only thing remaining is their beautiful language (which itself is littered with konglish) and confuscian social structure.

If you aren't interested in the language and/or the girls, kpop has nothing to offer over it's much more robust western cousin.

I agree with the bolded as well. The difference seems to be that you think that just an image change will let Kpop break the western market- either the flamboyantly homosexual Jo Kwon style or Psy's weirdness. IMO it'll take far more than that- they'll need their own sound too, and as long as kpop is still western-derived music no amount of eccentricity will bring mainstream success.



I think Hwa was on the way out anyway and the twitter thing was a (stupid) parting shot. If they had just dumped Hwa with some generic press release I'm pretty sure they'd have been mostly fine. At most the same amount of shit htey got for saying they'd add more members.
