I didn't listen. Conflicting reports (firehand vs original guy who brought it up) as to what the radio host said. I'm not going to comment on that. 2. radio djs tend to be assholes. Don't believe me, listen to the radio. The one comment you brought up is obviously a joke and if you don't like it you have a really thin skin. The DJs aren't being racist or even ignorant, they make cracks about everyone all the time. 3. People calling into the radio and people answering a poll are 2 different things. Are there people who feel strongly either way? Yes, but what I said is that a ton of people answering the poll probably are already 2ne1 fans who aren't even listeners, they saw blackjacks bitching on the internet and decided to white knight it up. @firehand- I disliked I am the Best too, go figure. | ||

For Kpop to be played on UK radio and survive without a slaughter like that, it would have to innovate somehow, because right now it's no more than a copy of western pop in a language people don't understand and/or a butchering of our language, albeit in a cute/funny way once you become accustomed. I listen to it because I like the language, particularly when spoken or sung by females (doesn't hurt if they are also good looking), which isn't going to win it any fans on Radio 1. | ||

Well Dystopia, im starting to think a lot of people on this thread just dont get 2NE1. Their popularity is amazing, and so are their songs. I mean, with almost 50MILLION views for Naega jeil jal naga, dont you think you are in the minority? Their musical is so interesting and technical, and this latest hit is no different. WAIT A SEC. Lets ALL just sit and think for a minute. We have just witnessed a Kpop song play on the 2nd highest rated Radio Show across the UK.....just think about that for a minute.......... seriously guys, it is this sort of stuff that we should be talking about and celebrating in the kpop discussion thread. I mean, pics of tiffany are great, but we have to talk about the amazing music and how it is shaping up in the world. I really think we need to adopt the reddit style and have one thread for music, and another for pics http://www.reddit.com/r/kpop http://www.reddit.com/r/kpics observe if you havent already seriously, lets appreciate the song. I can't really argue such vague terms as "ambitious" and "technical", what I can say is that a lot of it is electronic noise that sounds like robots fucking nails on a chalkboard, and the rest is a bullshit badass concept. As for seriously guys, it is this sort of stuff that we should be talking about and celebrating in the kpop discussion thread. I mean, pics of tiffany are great, but we have to talk about the amazing music and how it is shaping up in the world. I don't give a fuck about kpop's popularity. In fact, I'd argue that I dont want it played on the BBC because if it DID catch on most companies would most likely make english releases (see japan but applied to the US/UK). And "to advance a cause" is not a good reason for me to like anything. It doesn't work for me for "for the good of esports" and it certainly won't work for "the good of kpop". I like this shit because I find it good and entertaining, and everything else is irrelevant. As for splitting the thread, we've had that discussion before and the reasons for not doing it are still relevant. We have at best a couple dozen people commenting regularly and splitting that into a dozen or less would be stupid. Also reddit as a good example of organization is hilarious. | ||
