@Styx- while we don't discuss them, 10cm has topped several charts. Wouldn't consider them to be "hidden gems", just not idols, and therefore never discussed.

I don't think I've seen much of him in the thread (Probably because its rap). + Show Spoiler + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsTFFzrhfAc

I listen to only Korean ballads. Once in a while I will listen to a really good kpop kpop song, but I stick to Davichi/SeeYa/IU ballads, as well as some other ballads from singers/groups that normally sing pop. A lot of the cheesy OSTs too, lol. My kind of music though.

What the hell is there to discuss? (I'm gonna regret that, aren't I?) I feel like a fool for thinking that they couldn't have released something worse than the Tonight EP but I guess I was wrong. Fuck it, GD & TOP Album forever #1 More music? + Show Spoiler +

There are some hybrids like Davichi's Time, Please Stop, but a full ballad will never be KPop because that's not how you define pop music. It's fine to say the artist is a pop group if that's the type of music they usually make, but it's completely irrelevant to an individual song. A ballad is always a ballad; it doesn't magically become pop just because a typically pop group sings it. Idol groups tend to do a mix of both in albums but usually promote pop songs. When they do promote a ballad it's usually a temporary thing done in the first week or two of a comeback.

We don't say that every time some idol group sings a ballad they are singing ballad, it is still kpop. When CNBlue comes on stage it's kpop. It's all kpop. People do that because they're lazy, not because it's accurate.

All my Japanese music is classified as J-rock or J-pop. All my Korean music is classified just as K-pop, shit like my metal and alternative music are just listed as Rock, and so on.

Well no, CNBlue and Mighty Mouth are very much considered "Idol Groups" pertaining to the Kpop genre in Korea. For example, Korea views CNBlue as a boy group similar to the likes of 2PM, 2AM, BIGBANG, etc. while Japan views CNBlue as a rock band rather than music idols. Just about any music in Korea that is considered popular is Kpop not because people are lazy, but just because its culture is the way it is. And the term "kpop" is more of a foreign term describing the music of Korea. To Korea its just music.
