No, but it's the first real release after their first album (I don't consider chinese versions of the same song different songs) and this is the point where you can't tell anymore whether people genuinely think the song is good or are just biased. Which is my point.

Not even slightly. Every new band seems this way when the first album is out. It's when they try the hardest and care the most. It's the make or break point for most bands. If they get popular after their first album is released, the popularity will maintain itself, the fanbase is established and they'll do the rest of the work and buy any piece of shit you release afterwards.
Once the honeymoon period is over and it's time for the next production cycle, most artists songs turn to crap but no-one cares because the fans are already there buying the shit and loving it unconditionally.
They also have the most prep time because pre-debut they don't have to worry about all the promos and other shit to do, they just practice and shit. Most companies also go through more QC shit like editing choreo and picking out songs for the debut album because they have the time. After that it's the standard business model to churn out albums as fast as possible while keeping up with other activities so the overall quality of everything is lower.
Miss A's stuff is well put together but I personally don't like the style; I think Secret has been really consistent in terms of song quality, T-ara's not bad either.

I think that might be the dumbest thing I've ever read. People are biased when you don't like the song, and they genuinely like it when you also like it, that's how that comes off. For instance, a lot of people around here don't like "The Boys", but I f'ing LOVE that song. Chalk it up to bias right? I can't possibly actually like it because it's a good song right? Stupid.

It's not an either/or situation. There are popular groups with good songs and there are popular groups with shit songs that are popular because the group is popular. The fact that you automatically assume this is an attack on you and your liking of The Boys is amusing but you really should calm down.

I like The Boys too (but I only liked it after I saw it live. And that's mainly because it's a good performance, not a good song) but if you can't admit that it's a bad song, you're biased. There's a difference between liking a song but knowing it's bad, and thinking everything a band releases is fucking amazing

Jia looks more stunning than ever, or at least as good as when she had pink hair in good girl bad girl. Is it just me or is miss A probably the girl group when the most quality songs? I really think it might be true. They haven't released many "filler songs" on albums, Only song that didn't go on my playlist from this album was Rock n Rule.
Do you like Miss A? I've been a big Miss A fan ever since the release of their 2010 mini album, Bad Girl Good Girl. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Bad Girl Good Girl where JYP's presence became more apparent. I think Breathe was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding album. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Park Jin-Young. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Step Up. In this song, Miss A addresses the problems of abusive political authority. Love Alone is the most moving pop song of the 2010s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in kpop. Suji's solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially shows like Dream High and Invincible Youth 2. But I also think Suji works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Touch, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Step Up came out in '10, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. She's been compared to Han Ga In, but I think Suzy has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
In '11, they released, A-Class, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Goodbye Baby", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Lovey Dovey is a good song tho.
I think you got it!
And Demizzle, how do you like something that you consider bad?

edit- and TuElite's right lol
Who's to judge whether a song is "shit" or not? If enough people like the song then it's good? How can you tell whether a song is popular cause it's good or cause of their fan base?
On February 21 2012 09:58 Moonwrath wrote: And Demizzle, how do you like something that you consider bad?
Why do I eat fastfood when I know it's shit? Why do I watch trashy shows when I know they're shit?
If I cared about what was good in the classical sense of what is quality music, I wouldn't listen to any k-pop. Because it's pop culture. Which is by definition easy to swallow, not very complicated, and simplistic to appease to the masses.
Pop culture has its merits, but it's NOT because it's fundamentally good music
Why do I watch trashy shows when I know they're shit?
Because it's good entertainment.
I don't think anyone is going to make an argument that pop music is good 'in the classical sense of what is quality music' whatever that is. But I think if you like something, you must find some good qualities about it that appeal to you.
Things like this
if you can't admit that it's a bad song, you're biased.
don't make any kind of sense whatsoever. That literally says, "if I don't like it, you must be biased." I guess that's my entire point about 'bias vs quality'. Who is anyone to say what someone likes?
Of course there's no benchmark for quality. It's all subjective.
But demizzle just used a bad argument for the right idea. You declare yourself a sone, a fan. Fans are prone to overstating the quality of their groups/sport clubs/favorite writers/whatever. So if there were to be a bad song to be promoted by SNSD, your likelyhood to find that song good anyway is immensely increased. Which others call you out for. I don't see how that's unjustified.
Oh wow the amount of retardedness is approaching AKP level atm guys, need to calm down and get going. It's the same fkin discussion with girls, except now it's about group/songs. There is no general rule for good/bad music the way you guys talk. Like this fkin song. It's soooo bad but it was still god damned popular. It's bad but there are ppl who genuinely like it. + Show Spoiler +
No chance discussing this shit. I'm pretty sure we've all experienced non-kpop friends that say we're listening to shit. All personal preference. I usually like to know who likes what and all that but not like this.
