To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

I know this is slightly off topic, but I've been in Shanghai the past couple of days, and I gotta say, dem girls are pretty fucking good here on average. They're way better than the average Beijing girl, and I dunno if it was the lighting (around 10pm, so dark so can't really see face clearly), but they all looked pretty damn good, and seemed taller and prettier than the average Korean. That being said, that was kind of the night hotspot, so everyone was dressed well and probs had a large amount of makeup on.
There are a lot of pretty ladies in Korea - the yes/no game is very playable on the metro/streets (unlike hong kong... pretty much strictly no game =.=), but what bugs me is a lot of the time you can see the fact that they have tried to make themselves whiter, and quite often its inconsistent and looks terrible. Another thing is the fact that older women (grandma stage) put on makeup... it may be culture but its just weird... when ur old you don't need to be attractive
Which makes me ponder why there are ugly idols...

If you google for pictures without makeup, the majority of what you'll find are people who are wearing normal amounts of makeup. Sulli stands out in that pic bomb. She looks pretty good even without makeup imo, others don't though. :D Because she's wearing make up in that picture.

Pretty people don't always want to become idols.

Population size versus number of people who want to do a specific job versus subgroup who are naturally attractive while also being capable of both singing and dancing. There's only so much available.

lol no, it was Seohyun, he was right.

and I feel like everyone who gets remotely deep into kpop should take the 1-2 hours needed to learn hangul, it's useful even if you don't learn the language and cuts down on the "WHAT DOES THAT SAY" type of comments when the hangul they're pointing to is like the name of an artist.
Any recommendation for any online sources for this? Tried google swiftly but didnt really find much. TIA

For learning the alphabet? Just google the alphabet and practice taking hangul lyrics of songs and romanizing them.

Is it surprising idols look like crap without makeup? They sleep like 4 hours a day, pretty much slave conditions

More or less all woman (girls for you younger ones) don't look there best without makeup. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule.

On a related note, most of T-ara is now so overworked I could see it in their Lubby dubby performance, even with makeup on. Jiyeon and eunjung especially.

eh. For the whole makeup v no makeup thing, I think most KPop girls still look half decent without makeup (especially sooyoung :D, biasbiasbias), but that post up there just found by far the most hideous ones, with bad expressions, messed up hair, etc. I don't think those pics are a good way to judge how good the person looks without makeup, they're too extreme.
But yes it definitely helps alot.

Smiling or not having awkward facial expressions won't suddenly make the people in those pics look attractive, there's more shit wrong there than just poor timing.
|
They are all also ancient pictures. Everyone can look shitty when they are a teenager.

eh, if their hair was how it normally was (not like bedhead like seohyun and Jessica look) was and they were just looking normal, it definitely would not be as bad as it appears

Yeah, the pics are actively making them look worse instead of just neutral position. Photographer must be an elf.
