coming from a chinese background, it was a godsend learning to read hangul as opposed to traditional and simplified chinese.

Korean (Hangeul) is a language that was invented back in the 16th (?) century to replace the Chinese which was prevalent back then and that only the scholars would speak. It's basically a language designed to be easy.

And that obviously impacts the language's logic, semantics, the relative lack of irregular verbs etc.

On a related note, it's amazing just how many websites are incompetent at recognizing if someone is wearing makeup or not. If you google for pictures without makeup, the majority of what you'll find are people who are wearing normal amounts of makeup.
