edit- Been thinking about this for awhile and IMO CCM has to reevaluate how they manage T-ara. Sure all the individual acting schedules are great but the adverse affect of having perhaps the most punishing schedule out of all the girl groups is becoming noticeable. Hyomin not appearing for half the performances last cycle and for non-broadcast appearances due to dramas, Eunjung having WGM as well as a drama, 1 (soon to be 2) Japanese releases and the promotions that accompany those, and 2 major album releases in around 3 is ridiculous, even by Kpop standards.
T-ara had already been busy before because they take the "multimedia star" approach more seriously than anyone else- over half the group has appeared on dramas, guest appearances, more solo starring variety shows than anyone else, and as many endorsements as any other top group out there. Add promoting in another country where their target market is becoming increasingly competitive and it's clearly become too much for the girls.
I have to say I admire how most girl groups can appear so energetic and upbeat despite their schedules but as this performance shows T-ara is lacking this. Slow the fuck down, concentrate on a few areas at a time instead of taking a shotgun approach to infiltrate all forms of media, and make every individual project good. Stop taking endorsements for random F2P MMOs, make your brand alittle more exclusive, charge more for endorsements so you don't have to work as hard for the same amount of money. Stop trying to have them promote everyone constantly and slow the fuck down. Alternate the acting and the singing duties or something. There's no doubt that they're all ridiculously talented, and that kpop groups can work harder than I thought possible, but this is getting fucking ridiculous.
I'm sure they're tired and overworked while preparing for their comeback, but that's true of every popular Kpop group who makes a comeback. They get virtually no sleep or rest, and practice over and over and over to make sure everything is perfect. The fact that the performances we see on TV are usually actually a combination of multiple takes or the best take out of a few gives them less of an excuse. Believe me, I sympathize with how ridiculous the work schedules are for these idols, but T-ara isn't unique in that regard. Some leeway can be given since Eunjung had just been injured and Soyeon was apparently recovering from illness, but that doesn't explain why the rest of them were also lackluster.
As for your explanation for why Sistar dances so well in their lives performances, I don't buy it. Every group has certain members that carry most of the singing load, and each has at least one member who either barely sings or just raps. It's true that Hyorin carries the group vocally, but both Soyu and Dasom sing about as much as many girl group members do. Keep in mind that they only have four members, so it's really obvious when even one of them is off or subpar. Your explanation actually works better for T-ara as a large part of Cry Cry is sung by Soyeon and Eunjung, with the rest of them having a few lines at most or a short rap. T-ara also has backup dancers, which I don't think Sistar has ever had. The only advantage I could see is that Sistar has less non-music-related activities, which allows them to focus more on their performances.
I agree that T-ara's management should tone it down with the non-music-related activities, but you should consider that it may be the members themselves that are pushing it. I get the feeling that Eunjung doesn't care all that much about being a successful singer, so much as she wants to be a famous actress or celebrity in general, and uses her affiliation with T-ara to help her do that. Same goes for Qri, Jiyeon and probably Boram.
I am aware that all girl groups are overworked, but did you miss the 3 paragraph end to my post that starts with "having the most punishing schedule out of ALL THE GIRL GROUPS". ALL OF THEM. I'm not comparing their schedule to the schedule of the average person, I'm comparing it to the already busy as shit schedule of other top girl groups. Yes most other girl groups have Japanese promotions, dramas, and endorsements, but no other group has gone from major promotion (roly poly) to major Japanese promotion (Bo Peep Bo Peep, soon Yayaya), back to major promotion (Cry Cry) into another EQUAL LENGTH followup (Love Dovey), all while half their group is also tied up in dramas.
I'm not pulling the overwork card like it's the first time they've had to work hard, or that they're the only group that works hard. I've been following the scene long enough not to be that stupid. But take a look at older promotions (Roly Poly, the beginning of all this shit, or even older ones like BPBP or IGCBOY), and they clearly look far less energetic and more exhausted than they did then. They were energetic as shit and pulled off weird and special fanservice all the time, managed to look great, etc. etc., in a way they don't do now.
Also MV changes views fewer times than the average T-ara video...nice
Because comparing SIStar choreo to the Cry Cry choreo is a little bit of a far off comparison and a bad standard for discussion. You'd be better off comparing DBSK's Rising Sun live perfs. Which they didn't even bother lipsyncing because of how much more involved the dance was.
I actually don't see how the Cry Cry choreo is much more physically taxing than Sistar's choreography. I admit that the Cry Cry choreography looks very impressive, but it looks like more is going on than actually is because there are so many people involved, i.e. all the T-ara members and their backup dancers. There are multiple moments where most of the members are doing nothing but standing still (i.e. when Soyeon has her solos, right after Jiyeon's slide, Boram's dance solo, jacket removal, etc.). What really makes it look so difficult is that the movements are very sharp at times, particularly during the chorus.
If you look at one of Sistar's more active dance routines, such as Push Push, you'll see that they're doing quite a bit themselves throughout the song. There are few pauses, and usually the members who aren't in the spotlight are still doing some movement/dancing. The fact that there's only four of them and that they had no backup dancers necessitated them being in constant motion or always doing something to avoid looking stagnant. I'm not going to say that the choreography for Cry Cry is more or less tiring than Push Push, but I don't think you argue that there's a significant difference either way.
Also, I don't see why you mentioned lipsyncing in your original comment when discussing Sistar since they're one of the groups known for almost never lipsyncing, and it's pretty obvious when you see them performing live. They're very energetic while on stage and there's very little difference between their practice dancing and their live performance. You can hear all the members singing their parts and during the choruses as well.
Take a look again at the Cry Cry live performance and you'll see that the T-ara members aren't nearly as sharp or precise with their choreography and don't display much energy either. There's a significant disparity between their practice and live performances. There are long periods where only one member sings, and that includes the choruses. In fact, it's pretty clear that there's only one person singing the choruses. None of them are singing as hard as Hyorin did, and the rap portions even lack the impact that Bora's did.
To be fair, this is just one performance, and their first one at that. Eunjung was recovering from falling off of a horse and Soyeon had been ill. But, that doesn't explain the rest of the members or the general lackluster performance. There's clearly a lot of room for improvement, it just remains to be seen if they can improve enough.
I'm gonna agree with you that Cry Cry's choreo doesn't look very physically taxing. You guys are going crazy with Cry Cry right now lol.
To be honest I don't like the song very much.. the way the chorus sounds reminds me of Brittney Spears and it's something I'm not fond of. At least the choreo looks really cool though, also I know everyone doesn't like Hwayoung but why did they give her the worst outfit? Ugh~~~
Whenever I watch the live version it just seems very short, like it should go on for another minute. I think it comes back to the earlier problem of repeating the same verses too much.
Poor T-ara.. I was SO looking forward to the dance version of Cry Cry. I almost always love the dance versions (gee, sorry sorry) but this one was a train wreck. :'( At least we got that rehearsal video.

Haha, when I was watching the music video, my roommate walked by and was like "Dude is this like.. Korean Brittney Spears?" Apparently he loves Brittney Spears.
Off-topic, but man. I miss this thread for like one night to study and absolute madness. The whole Roffles crap, CryCry debut, WG comback, SNSD goodbye stage... Took me forever to catch up
Ya 30 pages came out of no where. I thought it would be a couple of weeks before we got to our 2000th page special filled with amazing everything but it seems like it will come in days.
I'm watching jungle fish 2 and I can't help but listen to this song when I fall asleep.

won't fall to the trollbait by the edit, nice try though. (for all who missed he post top 5, then revoked hoping to start something lol) @Ym1r-Nickleback is gross lol. This is true of all groups regardless of their schedule. The earlier performances and shows you have to put forth 100x the effort because you have no fan base and are at the point where you either rise or sink. The longer you're around, the bigger the fan base grows and thus you don't have to put forth the giant amount of fake aegyo at everything.

Well fake aegyo aside even vet girl groups don't act exhausted on stage.
T-ara, what are you doing...... Cry Cry is a song with incredible potential in my opinion. I enjoyed the drama MV, but this dance MV is quite lacking. As most others pointed out, the camera work is horrible. I wonder if the producers ever look back at what they did previously, and see points on which they could improve. Or they just think that horrible camera work is actually beneficial -.-". The song is great, the dance was good in the practice video, they are just doing something wrong.

You obviously have never watched a T-ara music video...this is par for the course. Be glad that the drama MV didn't have random 1 second cuts too. Actually, this dance MV has far fewer cuts than, say, IGCBOY.
It is still fucking horrible though. but expected.
