Let them say we lived in the time of Boxer, Emperor of Terran. Let them say we lived in the time of Nal_rA, Dreamer of Protoss. Let them say we lived in the time of Savior, Master of the Zerg.

I can't believe you either. I watched it in IMAX 3D! It was amazing. I say you get off the computer and rush over to the nearest theater and buy a movie ticket for Avatar. Then you sit down in the middle, and enjoy those three hours.

Just saw it, the movie was overhyped but the 3d effect is pretty awesome.

Yep it also beat TDK in Domestic making Cameron to have both his movies on top. Win/Win for him.

Bet Batman fans are pissed.

Graphics weren't the best I've seen (sc2 trailer intro and The Third and Seventh take that title), but it was pretty decent. The world wasn't anything out of the ordinary for someone who's seen a lot of sci fi animation and such. I went into the movie with very low expectations as I usually do with Hollywood productions. The story was pretty predictable and cliche even though I have never seen Pocahontas. But I still consider it several steps above both Transformers.

One thing I really want to praise Avatar about is restraint in using camera noise. You know, like when in transformers and to an extent BSG and a few fan-made space battle productions, where the camera is flying all over the fucking place making it impossible to tell what's going on. Transformers probably did it to mask clipping issues (especially in transformers 2), but it's still EXTREMELY irritating. Avatar's action was very easy to follow.

Also, the action direction was a lot better. In transformers 2 it's like HEY, SUDDENLY ROBOT- OH HEY SUDDENY MEGAN FOX - OH MORE ROBOT - BLURRED SHIT - MEGAN FOX AGAIN - ROBOTS AAARGH WHAT'S GOING ON. Avatar had none of this convoluted crap going on.

Okay I hit tab and it posted early for some reason.

Also, I think Horner could have done a LOT more with the score than just your typical cliche hollywood EPIC WITH EASTERN VOCALS AT DRAMATIC POINTS. I mean, come on. This is an original world with a totally perfect chance to make a unique score. But he blew it.

maybe i will give in. the final scene where the protagonist insists "if we want a resource, we simply declare the ones sitting on that as an enemy and kill him" short before the decision he makes is a game changer for me.
the film is still really stupid to me, but it may be a good mind changer for masses. regards to big power dominates weaker to get all, yay. shush didn know how to explane/pronounce, somehow love that movie now, have met so many stupid people now changed from, omg we must save shit before we destroy all, because they got depressed in the film when all those beautyfull colors and effects fade into dead earth because of war on resources. haha epic
earth thinking changed by multimillion dollar win project, cameron is so baller :D
my smiley drinks green tea. works. just, the commercial investments are lower.

are you comparing some 10 minute clip and a game intro to a full length movie?

Comparing a 10min clip of mostly stationary objects that isn't even in 3d to a 3 hour long movie full of action scenes isn't exactly meaningful.

(even if the 10min clip is impressive)

I saw it. Very beautiful. 3D didn't work for me, wearing a second layer of glasses sucks.

Plot was average.

The worst part of the movie was the music. I really felt like it made some parts of the move just feel wrong. I hardly take notice of music in games or movies so I think it had to have been pretty bad.

Yeah, I "bought" the soundtrack at the "store" and was really disappointed at how vanilla and boring it was.

Movie overhyped....? Maybe alittle, But overall my wife and i thought it was a great movie to see. i would definantly recommend it and im looking forward to watching it again.

Side note: I dont think you need to watch the movie in 3D to get the full experience.

The music in the 2nd trailer is better than the OST.

I loved this movie, it may not be the most origional or inovative story, it may not be the best acting or script, but the whole experience was very encapsulating, it pulled you in for a wild extremely enjoyable ride. My only fear is that watching it outside of the big screen will be such a lesser experience.

Definitely suggest everybody goes to see it in the theater IMAX 3D if you can!

I have heard a number of movie snobs attacking the movie for various aspects, but to me it seems they are missing the point of watching a movie to enjoy it, which Avatar really allows you to do.

In the end, it's not the perfect movie, but it is definitely amazing, and a benchmark of technology that needs to be seen in the big screen.
