Char drops colonies on all the bitches.
How you gonna mess up the Red Comet?

Not sure if you're a SHAFT fan, but anything done by them is the same style as Katanagatari. 80% of their shows have action/gags/romance mixed in, with those 'shinbo camera shots', including but not limited to: Bakemonogatari, Soredemo Machi, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Arakawa under the bridge.

Only started reading this topic in the last month or so. But probably raging over bubbly misunderstandings and that blonde guy.

Yes! Katanagatari was amazing! First time this was mentioned in a while.
Um...as for what to watch next....let me get back to you.

The first obvious choice would be Bakemonogatari, the original novels were authored by the same writer who wrote Katanagatari.
Just be extra sure to get the bluray versions. It has pretty much all you're looking for.

Well I looked up Bakemonotagari (and the rest of the suggestions from EMIYA <3) but it doesn't sound like my thing at all. I like swords, ninjas and epic stuff, I'm not into vampires or high schools at all.
Historical settings, lore and all that is what I love. Throw some ubercute romance in there, and some moe villains, and I'm sold ^_^

That sounds like Rurouni Kenshin to me. But I've only read a few volumes of the manga (ages ago) and watched the OVAs (way different) so I don't know if I can recommend it to you.
Anyway, don't knock Bakemono till you try it. If you really do like Katanagatari, I'm more than convinced you'll at least somewhat like Bakemono. The storytelling, emphasis on wordplay and cerebral style, it's all the same.
Edit: If you don't mind more serious series, there's Escaflowne, The Twelve Kingdoms, Seirei no Moribito. But they're not moe at all. Haha, I suck at this. (.__. )

Actually that pretty much 100% describes how it went

I watched Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal and it was absolutely amazing. I only got 2 episodes into the show afterwards, it was too different, and even though it was alright, it was too hard getting into a character that was so different from the OVA character.
I like Katanagatari not so much because of the dialogue and writing, I actually thought that the 'schemes' and plots were pretty infantile, but I let it slide since it's meant for younger audiences anyway, and I just enjoy the lore and animation. I was glad that it seemed to have more and more action as the series went on as well. So having the same writer doesn't entice me that much.
I appreciate the effort It's feels so impossible trying to track something down that you might like on your own, so it's really helpful having people to turn to :3

Well, I'm moving tomorrow so I'll be without internet for awhile. I'll be waiting by the door until I hear from that comcast guy.

You're looking for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
Edit: Watching Bakemonogatari, when Araragi says "siscon is something made for those who've never had a sister," in my head i'm thinking, Truer words have never been spoken.

Sick combat scenes in Edo Japan with some lampshaded anachronism. No romance, and most villains are super serious evil men, but I though Fuu was at least a little moe.

Just because you're a siscon doesn't mean you have to like your own sister in that way.

Plus, Judau evaded every Bright-slap in the series, and ended it by punching Bright out!

I might be a siscon too. I'm unofficially trying to adopt people as my younger sisters.
