I can't seem to find any other harem-comedies without romance as a main element (Clannad) that are good except for the Seitokai series which parody the genre itself.

Negima is okay. The anime is beyond terrible though - only the OVAs are worth watching, and even then, they require knowledge of the manga to really be understood. It's arguably not really comedy in the latter half of the series as well.
Does BakaTest count?

SnO is usually okay, but the whole thing with Chaos has been pretty dumb. In any case, it's not even close to being the funniest manga out there.

Finally got around to watching the Haruhi Suzumiya movie. What a treat!
Makes up for the horror that was the endless 8! Trying to keep up with all the time travel(even though technically it only happens two times) / time stop / craziness is pretty tough...but is defiantly worth it.
I am really tempted to pickup the novels and read some of the stuff that I am missing out on from the anime/movies. Any thoughts?

Those god damn eight episodes made me want to smash my keyboard into pieces. Haven't see the movie yet, I guess I should look into it.

The movie is very good.
The novels are variable... honestly, the show covers the best parts of the novels, though book 7 is alright.
Somehow finished NieA_7 and LoGH in the same day... NieA_7 is very very underrated and LoGH is somewhat overrated imo.
