I'm already lining up what to watch next based on all the good recs here The series just drew me in the first time I watched it. Pretty sure I watched it all in one sitting, because I just kept coming back for more. Not sure what it says about me, but it's one of the series that actually made me cry a bit. ![]() But yeah, Kouta can be annoying - and "not really that gorey"? :O

I think they did strike a good balance between plot and action so far though and the (Japanese) voice acting is pretty decent too. Yuka is also annoying. Actually so is Mayu.....I've also easily guessed Kouta's big trauma. I still think it's worth watching (I'm finishing it tonight probably.) Then it's time to actually finish FMA I always spend so much time watching live action dramas anime gets neglected.

Then it's time to actually finish FMA I always spend so much time watching live action dramas anime gets neglected. I can understand the gore point. I went into the series not knowing anything about it, and the gore was pretty high, when comparing it to a normal series. I've seen gorier, but it was still pretty up there. Whereas you've probably heard about the gore since this is your first time watching it, and people generally say "don't watch this if you don't have a strong stomach" or "it's really gory" and such. So you probably went in expecting a ton of gore. Also, it's not really all that gory in a blood n' guts (okay, there is a lot of spouting blood, but it's not -all- that bad from what I remember), but almost no intestines hanging out or anything, which is what I'd consider on the highest level of gore (probably). The thing about it is all the limb removal. While not as messy, it's a lot more surgical, I guess. It's definitely one of my favorite animes, even if it is predictable at times, and there are some scenes that are a bit gut wrenching. I think that if people go in not knowing what to expect may be turned off by the first few episodes.

No wait, 6 ENDLESS EIGHTS??? That defeats the purpose of calling it Endless Eight. Make it 1 episode or 8 KyoAni, don't do this halfway. As for Elfen Lied: Yeah, the series itself is excellent. If you've read the manga, the anime and the manga differ on various parts though they also differ in terms of overall meaning. The anime felt too incomplete for me, especially since they pretty much left some plotline questions unanswered. Also, the end result of the manga really changes how you view the Diclonius. If you felt that the anime left a big hole, I recommend you go and read the manga. I also started watching RahXenphon recently. It's like Evangelion without the budget failure and without as much internal conflict. It's kind of like the dumbed down version of Evangelion, since (what I'm seeing) it seems to cover the exact same themes. Well time will tell...

Oh, I bet the director of Haruhi is having a big fat smirk on his face right now. Knowing he's pretty much trolling his fans with these Endless Eight episodes. This is like going down in anime history or something.

Maybe I'm desensitised from years of working in comic shops (I was the buyer for all the Japanese stuff at both places because the bosses didn't have a clue lol.) It just didn't phase me at all. I haven't really watched anything I've thought was ott in that respect, but then again I've been off the anime for a long, long time.
