Watched only the first because going from monologing about his "assasins pride" to swearing fealty to "my little lady" made me laugh about how quickly the main character changed personalities.
I'll give you that the show's pacing is a bit off and that's probably my biggest pickle with it lol. Even in future episodes, they aren't providing timelines so you'll have a week pass per se, but you'd only think something happened the previous day or so. Likewise, more information on the MC's background would've helped us understand this current situation, however, if you think about the change and consider what was taking place at the time, you'd realize that there was a reason for it too. If I recall correctly, the MC even talks about how it depends on how well she does because he may "have to kill her later on" or something.
There's more information regarding his background in the next couple of episodes and there's likely a lot more to come, but basically, while the personality change seems odd, it doesn't when you consider everything that was happening. You should give the second episode a watch. Setting aside the pacing issues and not providing as much info at times, it's a pretty fun watch and there's some pretty good animation too. There's also interesting reveals and the world itself seems exciting if we only get more info on it!
The MC went ahead and gave her the magic powers (in a really dodgy way I might add) instead of assassinating her as he had decided previously before finding her somewhere random. he had already decided to kill her. There was no reason to do a complete change in personality. The world from the first episode does look interesting like a chandalier. Maybe I'll give the second episode a go and see if it gets better
Sure, but you're missing my point. I'll explain it a bit keeping in mind that some of this stuff was assumptions what things went down in episode 1 and I won't confirm or deny if they were proved true later on. Long story short, the MC observed her for the one day and decided to complete the mission, aka assassinate her because he didn't believe she is from the Duke family therefore he would fulfill his mission and move on. I should mention that it seems like they spared together and other things took place, but the anime decided not to show those because time I presume and again, pacing issues.
Anyways, he goes out to kill her and senses the lancanthropes so he eventually finds her in the yard outside fighting them. Even though these are low-level ones, she still can't beat them despite trying her best. He's heard about her story and has seen how she's treated. He's heard that her grandfather has went to extraordinary length to get her to manifest her powers, aka she constantly has to fight these things and unlike others her age, she's isolated at school and at home. It's like she's alive but dead too. Then when he saw her battling, even when she knew that there was a possibility of death, she did not call for help because she's rather die than admit that she is not from the angel family (she doesn't know she isn't btw, it's a matter of pride and such).
From my perspective at the time, this probably had something to do with the MC's upbringing. Even though he wanted to kill her, he probably saw a figment of himself in her. His struggle and hers etc... were probably one of the same, thus he changed his mind and decided to help her. It became personal rather than just a mission and based on this, he decided that he'd love to raise her up and train her so that she can stand at the top. To go where few dreamed that she would. To help her accomplish her goal so he shared some of his powers with her. I don't know why the dodgy way was used haha but guessing since this was a way of passing something on so it had to be physical in nature?
I was hesitant to watch because my cat passed away earlier this year, but a lot of the tears was because of all the flashbacks to the MC's parents, which kinda makes me wanna hang out with mine more in the few decades that they got left hopefully
You know, its kind of weird to me that things like this video are actually a somewhat common thing. To me, if I would require a youtube video to "explain" whats going on in order for me to watch something, then thats just a huge red flag to me to not watch it. Why do people want to just jump into some anime/franchises in the middle with no prior exposure to it, and rely on a youtube video to know whats going on? Sounds to me like a recipe for a bad time.
if i was a fate fan but never did fgo I might watch something like that to get into it. But yeah you're right, if I was someone who never watched/read any fate i would probably stay away from it.
Even if you are a Fate fan, you just don't start something from literally right in the middle of the story. It makes about as much sense as someone hearing a bunch of hype about the Heavens Feel movies, and deciding to jump in at the 3rd movie or something. If someone wants to avoid having to play cancerous gacha mobage, just find a story play-through to watch on Youtube or something, and start from the beginning.
You really just need to watch the prologue OVA then you are fine. You won't get as much out of it as someone who played but you don't need to play the game to enjoy the self contained Babylon story.
You definitely need to watch some sort of fate series beforehand. And you'll still wonder about all of these off hand charcters introduced as if you should know them. It's obviously made for fans of the game, as even someone who watched previous fate series is baffled by it. Only watching the prologue OVA, by which I take to mean that 1 hour movie First Order is just an invitation to confusion.
I watched fate stay night, fate zero, that unlimited bladeworks movie, the first heaven feel movie, fate romania, half of fate encore, the FGO prologue movie and still feel a bit lost.
We get it, you are a big fan of F/GO and you play the game, but if you don't want me to tell you that what you wrote is not true, you got to stop writing something that is demonstrably false.
You don't back up anything you say. You just make your claim then run off into the night. So no you can't just say something and have it be the gospel according to saint know nothing.
I really don't understand why you keep telling people this that they can watch FGO without any previous series. You obviously play the game, so who are you to say that others can understand with just that? It's a well animated anime, but it isn't something someone can just dive into without watching any previous series or just the First Order minimovie.

Only from your perspective as someone who has played the game. First Order is basically tells someone that has never watched the Fate series before that they will not enjoy the series.
Why? I can see if you just weren't interested in the story but "because its Fate" sounds like an excuse rather then a reason. First Order is literally an info dump of everything you would need to know and is itself pretty different to other Fate works because it constructs an entirely different rule set.
Most Fate fans today had FGO as *their entry point* intro the franchise. So saying that the prologue doesn't cut it for an introduction for the series is an excuse.
