Ep1 honestly had me quite disappointed. I generally disagree with the notion in here that the comedy (the teacher, the sisters etc) in it, especially in the anime adaptation, is a bad part about it. Simply because the difference between his life whenever he crosses that bridge seems like such an important theme to the series as a whole that I think the "overdone" comedy is indeed intended that way, both in the manga as well as the anime and I like that contrast. It's not what I'm watching the series for or that I'm looking forward to it but I do think it is needed for what they're doing. That being said the science club is some of the worst 3gatsu has to offer imo and I will not defend that particular kind of comedy even if it also serves that purpose of showing the difference and him getting "normal" social interactions in school. So ep1 really was kind of shitty for me. Ep 2 on the other hand felt much more like what I want from the series. Still far from a strong showing but a lot better than last weeks episode. Oh and as an aside, while I do love the animation for the OP I do hate the song... that's probably the worst OP/ED I can think of so far for 3gatsu. That seems so unfitting right now. Maybe I'll get used to it but the chances of me skipping it next week are astronomically high and I don't usually skip OP's or EDs... ever | ||

but much more importantly how can you hate the new OP song???? :O I enjoy it much more than sayonara bystander from season 1. Bump of Chicken is still superior but that is cause I am biased to them also really looking forward to next episode since the next major story arc will start up. | ||

I really enjoyed the first arc but the second one sucked. + Show Spoiler + Having all those different dynamics and tricks in the first arc kept the whole thing fresh and interesting. The stakes felt high and real as something terrible could really happen to the main character. Kaiji won and lost at the same time, which was nice. However, in the second arc they used death as the stake. It sounds ironic but it's an incredibly weak stake in this scenario. I don't really care if some randoms die in a show like this. The characters feel quite stale and unreal anyways. The main character can't die or the show is over. So the seconds arc just ended up being unnecessarily dragged drama. No interesting mechanics, no nothing. I hope the third arc will be more exciting again. | ||

but yeah, this season seems pretty lackluster compared to the last 2 or so. Last seasons's tsurezure children carried the shorts quite hard as well so it wasn't just the "normal" stuff that was good. Everything we've got there this season is probably KitaEri talking about cocktails for 3 minutes while pretending to be drunk? That being said, I'm pretty sure 3gatsu is going to start carrying like crazy soon enough | ||
