What's there to ruin though? One of two things I guess: - Either an unfortunate bad roll on your part in not really having any of them fully click with you - Or, if this happens to you a lot, I guess it might just be that we fundamentally disagree in our perception of the rating scale and how it should be used. Oh well. Let's say I'm not the type of guy who throws around with 8s, 9s and 10s because I think it dilutes the system. As in, the truly great titles don't get the ratings they deserve compared to the rest of the shows if "ok" shows already receive 7s and 8s. I hope that makes sense. Why does the author keep killing my favourite characters?!?!? Let's not forget the suicide by his subordinate. Only bright side is that Mittenmeyer is kinda confirmed to survive having adopted his child. The whole story of Reuental was such a tragedy. : /

+ Show Spoiler + Well, the ending was somewhat expected. They kept forshadowing his condition being worse than anyone thought so I guess I should've seen his death coming especially since they killed his strongest and in a way, only rival. Still, I really wanted to see Reinhard actually live with his newborn and wife for a while so from that perspective, I was disappointed. I'm glad that Mittenmeyer is still alive though! I would've been mad as hell if he also died. Kirchesis then Reunetual and now Reinhard, sigh. I'm also glad that Reinhard was making sure to be as fair as possible when ruling. I was afraid that the anime will show him slowly becoming like the Goldenbaum dynasty. Killing Schenokoff seemed like a bad idea though. Merkatz is understandable and Mashengo too, even Fischer was since the Imperial force was throwing everything at them. Regardless of how brilliant their tactics are, having all the top brass escape harm and death is in most cases unrealistic I feel. Schenokoff though was like him just relaxing and being caught off. I mean sure, it happen but to this guy of all? felt like author forgot that unspoken rule of "this guy is invincible" lol. The relationship between his daughter and Julian also seemed somewhat forced. I didn't feel like there was much of a transition but it's a cute relationship so I'll let it pass. Much as I disliked Oberstein for being so blunt, you have to agree that he carried things out well. His sacrifice in the end was pretty sad. Reinhard died without realizing that Oberstein sacrificed himself for his sake ![]() ![]()

And behold, this is a testiment to how good LOGH is. In the past, BigFan was hestitant to start LOGH, given how long it was. And then he started it, and finished it in like 2 weeks. A skeptic turned believer in such a short time. If BigFan can do it, why not everyone else? Toad, when you gonna watch LOGH?

Honestly, I like all these guys: Kirchesis, Mittenmeyer, Reunental and Reinhard (+ Show Spoiler + after Westerland got wrapped up I thought it was a fun show. I like shows that are meant to show the craziness of war. Only show that came close but misses by far from a numbers perspective is probably Kingdom. I mean, we were talking 30 million soldiers at one point sheesh. I would recommend the watch for anyone, just have a box of tissues nearby lol.

edit:One of the only two criticisms I have of the show, well 3 in total actually is that it doesn't do a good enough job of showing the brutality of war on the soldiers actually fighting it. There's not much in terms of that or the ramifications on those people. Instead it's more the idealized version of fighting that was more popular before WW1.

It's a really good showing of war in terms of the political sphere surrounding it though. But those moments where it does show war as it pertains to the regular soldiers... holy shit. LOGH's cast is so good. The main characters are all obviously great, and as I've said in past posts, even the minor ones shine. Who expected to like Lutz early on, or Wahlen, or Kessler? One of the nice things about the Gaiden series is not only seeing stories of Reinhard and Kircheis in their early days, but the cameo appearances of other minor characters. Its another way rewatches shine too, since you miss so much stuff on early watches. On rewatches you'll be like "oh cool, Hilda shows up in like episode 4" and such

Such things deserve praise To be fair, Tytania's second half made me want to watch some other similar anime. The first half for the anime was kinda iffy though. Seeing as LoGH is by the same author and was said to be superior plus it also adapted the whole source, aka, finished, figured it's about time I watched it. I've been running out of anime to watch as well so a change in genre was a good option imo. Or rather, "put it on hold to watch other things". Aka dropped. Well, to be fair, I didn't really drop it. I had some other shows that I was more interested in and decided that I'll come back to it once I've exhausted and watched enough shows. I decided to try watching it at a bad time, that's all lol. The Toad route will eventually be completed! ![]()
