Yea, it aired its first ep at AX. Since MAL had to make it so people could put it on their watching list, they had to list it as an airing series

People aren't going to "watch" it for the next 6 months anyways so they could just put it on hold, couldn't they?

You simply can't add it to watching unless the status of the show is airing or it already aired and it's past the airing date.

Hm, you can it just gets put back to ptw after a while. I have never tried and put a not-yet-aired anime on hold so I'm trying that out now for science... Will see if it gets put back to ptw after a while, too.

+ Show Spoiler + ![]() I fail to see the need to have it listed as already airing Edit: could add it to on hold too, no problem

Can't set shows to the watching tab without it having aired, otherwise it gets sent to PTW. Alas, this has now become a "Summer anime" due to the premiere at AX. Yes, I find it retarded too.

I think mostly western shows but the anime industry is moving more and more into that direction as well. It has been a common thing for years though to pre-produce a few episodes and show them at an event months ahead of the actual start of airing.

Where do you think clips for trailers come from? All shows, like projects, have some sort of lead time to in order to create a finished product to meet deadlines. Kyoani's had trailers for Violet Evergarden as far back as May last year. So they've been working on this for a very long time. Oh well, I don't mind since that means I can put it as watching XD ![]()

When they watched the first episode now they will certainly watch it again once it airs because in 6 months time people will surely have forgotten most of what happened. At that point they could just leave it on their ptw because they are basically planning to watch it, not actually watching it. I think it's far more confusing that appears as airing everywhere when it's actually not. But w/e, MAL is always gonna mal.

I use MAL mainly as for recollection purposes. To keep track of what series I've completed, want to delve into when I have more free time, etc. Oh, and to keep at top 10 grills list. But beyond that, I'm not expecting much from the site. Then there are some users that use MAL almost religiously (I think Ice might be considered this), people who actually update episode to episode and move anime to finished tab as soon as the finale has aired. That kind of diligence is amazing l0l. I doubt I update my MAL that often, maybe once per season, even if. So to hear your grievance about the Violet Evergreen situation, I'm just amused.

Eh, I think it didn't came across as I wanted. I personally don't really care because I'm not affected. I just think it's silly. The last argument I made was simply from an observing stand point. People on MAL seem generally confused about the status of that show. There are multiple threads about it. Apparently it even caused some confusion for folks in this thread. That in mind, I brought up another argument as to why I think MAL's decision doesn't serve a real purpose or is even making things worse. It's more of an argument on principles. I tend to get vigorous on those, even when it's just about small issues. It's fun to me but I suppose it's a bit of a bad habbit, lol. As for my use of MAL, I'm more like Ice. I usually update after a watching session or when I stop to write something about a certain episode here. It may seem like OCD-like but I don't think it is. I know people who do have some sort of OCD and it's certainly no matter to take lightly. On July 07 2017 06:08 Toadesstern wrote: Isekai Shokudou was pretty good. It felt flat and sterile if that makes sense. It felt like emotions, stories and dialouge were cut out from a cardboard and pieced together.
