I am sad that Gundam Iron Blood has come to an end. Thoroughly enjoyed S1 and S2. I wonder if they will do some type of movie or something. I just wish the ending was longer since it was the last episode ):

I was truly amused by the ending lol, my brother has been watching S1 S2 and then i sort of watch bits and bobs with him from about 40+episodes, have to say it truly looks like they have achieved the goal of promoting gunpla so they don't really care for whatever ends up in the end. I thought they wrapped up everything quite well.

+ Show Spoiler +
Takkadan never ask for alot, they just wanted a place for them (family), and then they grew too big. Orga wanted to become the king/dictator of mars so somehow the 'true villian' rustal becomes the good guy who defeats the protagonists, this is the first time in gundam history lol

I like the fighting scenes, lasers were overused in the past decade seriously, I feel good to see some good actions without having the lasers scream at me 'this is gundam this is gundam'. The reactions of the enemy soldiers are closer to real war emotions as well (at least they tried).

+ Show Spoiler +
I wanted Orga to win so badly, I truly hated Rustal. Mika died too, mad me sad. But im glad that it ended with a happy ending. Ride did Orga proud, still wished Julieta would have died in the end

Coming from the GS, GSD and Gundam 00, the fighting scenes were refreshing without having lasers shooting everywhere. Overall, I enjoyed the series.

I found the whole thing very refreshing for Gundam. Even though I did not like how it all ended

No need to force yourself to watch it lol, if you don't like it you don't like it. If you're really determined though try to make it up to episode 4, that's where I thought the plot really started to get interesting.

What's wrong with yuri though ? I mean I don't really understand the obsession around it myself but it's just gay people. (Also it's just a small plotpoint in SSY and a pretty clever one at that too imo).

It's interesting while I watch it, but once I stop for the day, I can't get the motivation to start up again the next day, if that makes sense D:

Just finished Shinsekai Yori and it was amazing, this show nailed absolutely everything (characters, setting, pacing, themes, etc etc). I was hesitant to watch it initially because I was spoiled on queerats being "humans", something I thought was the big twist, but it actually made me enjoy the show more knowing that. It was also foreshadowed very frequently over the course of the show so i'm guessing you were expected to think something was up anyway.

The conflict was interesting in the sense that we don't usually see dystopia stories primarily through the eyes of the oppressors rather than the victims wich was a nice change of pace. Still almost all characters did truly despicable things for understandable reasons so there's not really such a thing as good or bad in this scenario (as it should be).

It's ironic considering the main reason why I started watching this show over others was because I needed more HDD space and SSY was 40 gigs but now I'm hesitant to delete the files lol.

Glad you enjoyed it. I loved the show when I watched it. Here's what I wrote at the time:

Shinsekai Yori: + Show Spoiler +
When we knew about their child being under the control of the queerats, we knew that they had to dead or at best, somehow alive and mind control or something. What I really wanted to know is what happened? How did it get to that stage? We are never given that info. The whole igloo being destroyed, that was Maria's doing when she relocated with Mamarou but after that, did that other queerat convince them to stay at their place then when Maria gave birth, her cantus was at its weakest and Mamarou didn't have much in him so they easily overwhelmed them? Did they find them after they gave birth and that's when they attacked them both and took their child? Then you have the letter, it's definitely written by Maria but then, you can probably even try and wonder if it's a legit letter (seems to be to me) or if the queerats purposely wrote it (unlikely).

I could go on and on because as we saw, that child was what changed the whole war. True, the strategic and guerilla type warfare helped them greatly especially against the unprepared humans but beating the hornets in perfect fashion, killing a ton of people including Shirsei who was the strongest cantus user etc... accounted for a ton of fear that rendered humans helpless. Btw, guys, since I've seen this mentioned here, the child is not a fiend! Fiends would attack any and everything living, however, she was only targeting humans because she was raised to believe that she is a queerat from day one and had a death feedback if she killed one of them which is how they killed her in the end.

On the whole DNA topic, I gotta agree with whoever said that its good confirmation when you consider they also looked at dental records. I don't see why they can't do it especially given that Maria and Mamarou run away at the age of 14 then Tomoko said that when they would've been 26 (someone gave their child an age of 10 years so they would've been 17 at the time). There was more than enough to check the DNA and no time constraints with that timeline. Even if the age/gender bit was faked, there was still other evidence to back up the idea that it was them. I only thought that maybe she was lying because she wanted to avoid Saki getting disciplined or even gotten rid of, however, thinking back on it and the situation they were in, we know that Tomoko has always spoke of doing what's good for society.

I don't blame society for getting so mad at Squealer that they opted for the eternal hell punishment. My god, the pain must've been unimaginable. Likewise, I don't blame them for laughing at him when he said that he was human. Ignorance is bliss. What really pisses me off though is that it felt like their society completely closed itself off to previous human actions as in it didn't seem like they tried to teach their students any information about history but everything seemed to focus on doing what's best for society (fiend on bridge, cut rope or if karma demon, walk into a lake to die; makes sense why they did it though). I don't forsee any quick changes happening, at least, not until the people realize that queerats have a link to humans. It is really sad overall though. PK users suppress non-PK users by turning them into beasts so that they can easily use their cantus against them while maintaining their own rules of society. Makes me wonder just how many from the higher ups of society actually know about queerats have human origins.

Thanks for the post, it was a good read. I agree with most of the stuff you wrote but + Show Spoiler [SSY] +
The canti users turning humans into queerats was to avoid becoming defenseless against regular humans. Obviously I think mutating humans into beasts is unacceptable but their motives weren't evil. The attack prevention and death feedback systems being fundamentally flawed was the real problem imo.

No problem, hmm I guess that's one way of thinking about it. I still see it differently. + Show Spoiler +
Given, I watched this anime almost 2 years ago but I think it was more about suppressing them than anything else. Keep in mind how the queerats had to report to the PK users about their wars etc... If the whole thing was about making less troublesome to PK users (another way of what you're saying), they would've just left them be and monitored them from far but instead, they interfered directly in their society.

+ Show Spoiler +
So the PK users essentially put in a "kill switch" so that they couldn't become what they called fiends. This killswitch meant they couldn't harm humans. However since there were humans out there that weren't PK users that meant they didn't have the killswitch. These outside humans were a threat. They could enslave the PK users much like the PK guys did to them in decades past. Even if they just moved location eventually throughout the centuries the human society would find them, learn they couldn't harm humans and then enslave them or just meddle with their "perfect society". The solution they came up with was changing the humans into a form they could actually interact with which allowed them to create their dystopian society free from harm. I assume they kept the queerat wars under inspection for various reasons.

1) Population control
2) War breeds innovation
3) Keeping them in constant struggle helps get them focused on each other instead of PK users, united queerats are far scarier than a split nation.
4) They wanted a perfect society based on their ideals. Any outside interference would cause massive problems. So they had to be eliminated but at the same time they needed labor to make their society function. Labor that was not their own.

The child situation is a bit simpler. Remember earlier in the show it explained how the PK users were "programmed" to use sex to relief stress and calm down? Well if you do this you're going to have children obviously. That's why they generally became homosexual during teen life. Now you have 2 PK users alone in foreign land. Even though we know she loves Saki she still feels an obligation to shitface boy. So all the queerats at to do was give them a place to stay and eventually she'd pop a baby out. Once the baby was born she'd be in a vulnerable state(Child birth is freaking crazy). The shitface boy wasn't strong at all so he was hardly a threat. They just had to surprise her in this situation, kill her and take the child. They couldn't keep her around as it'd screw with the childs conditioning and be far too risky.

SSY had some issues in writing but overall it was pretty dam good. We need more of it's kind in anime. It's just not the kind of stuff that sells amazingly well. As well as getting marred with homophobia. Amazing people make such a big deal of that but are find when girls go at it. smh

Ah I see what you mean, doing something else until you're in the mood would probably be the best option in that case. Just don't rewatch the first 2 episodes again but continue from ep. 3 onwards next time.

Also the yuri thing isn't really a spoiler, relationships in SSY are complicated to say the least.

the problem is, that so far, the next time I get in the mood, is so far down the line, that I forget what happened in the first 2 eps xD

but okay screw that. I've decided I'll watch up until ep8 this evening after work. (some posts ago some of you said that good stuff happened around there)
that plus the ep 4 things should hopefully be enough for me to get genuinely interested.

Or I'll just become like nagisama on the matter.

I don't believe you.

LWA was again fantastic this week. If they keep this up, it'll win the "Leftover Anime" award for this season.

Warau Salesman was pretty interesting. Will keep watching to see how it all unfolds. But this is probably one of the best of this new season so far.

Frame Arms Girls. Not sure how I feel about it just yet. Looks interesting but I'm not sure how to feel about pantsu of 10-year old fighting mecha dolls...

Man, for the past 7 episodes or so I have been thinking about how much I hate characters like Furuichi. In ep14 it climaxed, he survived the "we must kill him" scene and then he suddenly killed himself later. :o

That episode was quite impactful, damn...

Like AoT (Attack on Train)? I would be surprised if they poured that much effort into an original show but not into a sequel of a well-recieved one.

If KonoSuba proves anything, is that if a shitty looking show gets popular, sequels can very well be just as shitty looking

fair enough, lol

Yea. That chara was pretty annoying. Good thing he wasn't around that much.

I was hoping this time would be different, because I decided I'd be determined to stick it out, but here I am again, 2 weeks later, still only seen the first 2 episodes - AGAIN.

You should realise that not every show is for everyone. Seeing what show's you are hyped about here in general lets me think that SSY just might not be an enjoyable show for you. It's hard sci-fi dystopian, very slow paced with lots of subtle foreshadowing and social criticism.

I recently watched the original 95 GITS movie and it was good but i think i went in with too high expectations. It was a good movie but i ultimately ended it disappointed that there wasn't more to it.

This is why i prefer going into stuff knowing as little as possible.

SAC is arguably better than GITS 95 from a story/character perspective. The movie however has some stunning moments and imagery. That section in the middle where it just has an "intermission" with random shots around the city is so hauntingly beautiful.

The dream would be combining SAC writing and characters with 95s visual/sound design/production standards. Pity both the West and the East decided they'd rather butcher GITS to make some kind of action movie instead of just fucking making new IP.

Did you never watch it before or did you watch the newer version (the cgi abomination)? Did you watch the series?

I personally thought the 95 movie was pretty good and there certainly was lots of eye-candy but the writing was a bit messy. However, the SAC seasons elevated the franchise onto a whole new level for me.

I think the original suffers from age. It was incredibly influential and the art is incredible, but I'm not a fan of the really abstract concepts they explore. GitS 2 suffers from that 20x moreso.

SAC explores more interesting political themes, and the philosophical stuff is actually applied in a more relatable or foreseeable sense, which is what I think makes cyberpunk so interesting.

I never watched anything from the franchise before. I thought it was a good movie but everyone i ever heard talking about it kept praising it to high heavens especially for the 'philosophy' but i don't know, most of it was pretty basic as far as philosophy goes and for someone working with biology, a field that attempts to define what life is, it just didn't really give me anything to think about that i hadn't thought about before.

If i went into it knowing nothing i think i would've enjoyed it more, it was still entertaining but ultimately i feel like the hype ruined it a bit for me. I began watching SAC and despite only being 2 episodes in i am honestly already enjoying it more than i did the movie despite it only having been through incredibly episodic episodes.

The movie was obviously everything good about 90s anime visually though.
